More accurately, the biggest changes and improvements stand to benefit pedestrians, local businesses and the Farmer’s Market: wider pavements, renewed paving, additional crossing points, inset parking bays, loading bay, greening and raised tables either ends. The road will be resurfaced and become one-way for motor vehicles. There are zero plans for any 'built' cycle lanes or decent ‘cycle system’ here, rather some inexpensive painted signs to indicate cycles can use the road in both directions. Basically a minimal concession in order to conform to design standards that offers no protection and forms the least costly part of these changes. Why try and frame this negatively as some kind of major cycle scheme?
