Anyone else notice the sheer number of crime or crime related stories on the home page? Has it always been this bad?

He goes on about the murder rate being down (back to where it was when he became Mayor) but overall crime is up by c25% I believe.

The police know most of the criminals in the borough. Usually repeat offenders, even the youths. They admitted at a meeting in our road last year that it’s very difficult to stop. The punishments are minimal, if it even goes to court.Phone thefts, doorstep thefts, shoplifting. Supposedly low level crime but really the ones that make areas unpleasant. Without an increased police presence it’s not going to improve.Meanwhile victims are left to deal with the consequences.Or is it simply a small price to pay for living in Khan’s ‘greatest city in the world’.

The crime that gets on websites like this or in the newspapers is the serious stuff. Low level crime rarely gets a mention even if it’s that which makes the general feel of an area unpleasant.Just an hour ago there was a teenage lad mugged for his phone by three youths on bikes in Lammas Park. It’s things like that, happening all the time and seemingly without resolution, that concern people.

It wasn't any old slagging off tweet, it was an inciting racial hatred tweet. As a result it tipped her over the edge into a custodial sentence. This is a fact. Whether a racial hatred tweet should be enough to send someone to prison is debatable, but the law as it stands gave the judge no option. She probably was given a harsher sentence due to her place in society.

I'm not saying crime isn't serious or concerning, but that's 6 out of a total of 95 stories on the homepage. I can't imagine any news outlet having a lower percentage.People tend to get drawn to bad news over good (or neutral) news.

My bad,my original post should have been titled Local crime (LB Ealing)as there seems to be a growing number of local crimes and criminals featured on the homepage.Any ideas as to why and whether we can expect this unhappy trend to continue?

Why has Ealing news published a photograph of this individual with his face covered, he’s been found guilty of crimes and sent to prison. Show his full face in a photograph.

Much of what happens in the borough goes unreported. For example, there was a suicide in Blondin Park a few weeks ago but nothing has appeared in any local media, including this site.Most websites and (increasingly rare) local papers rely on police press releases for stories. Gone are the days of the crime reporter who would pick up stories from the area well before the police said anything. Similarly there’s no dedicated court reporting now, so we are only told the result of a conviction, which is unlikely to represent the true crime rate in the area.

11 of the 43 stories on the homepage are crime-related. Out of those 11, 8 are about arrests made or people sentenced.I've included the mice in one of our local pubs, which I suppose is a crime of sorts.It'd be interesting to compare this to other community pages, especially considering Ealing is one of the largest boroughs.

Yes, have noticed.And it will get a LOT worse.Until we ditch the Politically Correct Lefty Liberal Woke rotted Legislation, Police, Judiciary and Council Services.We all know which Parties are weak & wet and will do FA, use your vote if you want Proper Law & Order.
