Old Sneaky Pete would do well to think about who has been running things in Ealing for 16 years before spouting off about restoring ‘pride in our streets’.Like most complacent and lazy politicians he’s only just woken up to the fact that it’s Ben a slide into shite under his watch. Trying to shift blame onto Liz Truss and anybody else for his poor decision making and lack of interest in what most people really want from the council smacks of desperation.Tackling the cost of living by reducing the cost of bulk waste collection isn’t much of an argument. Perhaps not putting council tax up by the maximum for two years running and increasing other fees hugely would be better. Meanwhile he’s happy to tackle his own cost of living by putting his allowances up to £76,000 a year, almost double what he pocketed when becoming council leader in 2021. Cabinet ministers scrape by on £60k a year, while absentee chief executive Tony Clements earned a pay rise taking his salary package to almost £300,000.Little wonder there’s no money to keep children’s centres open.

Peter Mason (and Ealing Liebore Labour) and Chaim Rumkowski suck(ed) up to people in authority above them, but crap(ped) on the people beneath them.Dominik, I highlighted two different situations, but the individuals course of action is the same. Suck up/endear youself to authorities above you, but take people beneath you for granted/crap on them/ use them as cannon fodder for your own self-importance.

Dominik, I do not think that Peter Mason would have been a leader fighter in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising (19/04/1943 - 16/05/1943). Peter Mason seems like a one upmanship person for himself, just like Chaim Rumkowski was in Łódź.Do you think Labour, with Peter Mason, will bring back Planning Notification Letters, if they get re-elected tomorrow (on 07/05/2026), or will they continue to be running dogs/lackeys for developers again, at the expense of the people.I noticed a report in Ealing Today "What are the Political Parties Pledging for Ealing Borough?" (April 24, 2026), that only the Conservatives "will deliver letters to residents advising them on planning applications in their area." Are other political parties going to bring back Planning Notification Letters?

Which part of it do you think is even remotely comparable?Even as a stupid metaphor it doesn’t make sense. Who are the Nazis in this supposed modern-day scenario?Anthony Hawran’s hyperbolic posts sound like they’re written by a sixth-former who has recently discovered, and become addicted to, the History Channel. The only difference being that most sixth-formers demonstrate critical thinking, and understand when an analogy is inappropriate.

You have to "decipher" or "interpret" Mr Hawran's postings, which appear impenetrable rantings to some and I understand that.Whilst some may be dismissive of his "message delivery" I get his gist.He is right.

Keith, I am using analogies that I know from Polish history. This whether from World War Two or other times, like in the pre-partition 18th century Polish Lithuanian Union. Peter Mason,along with Liebore Labour run Ealing Council (and Julian Bell before him) have endeared themselves to people above theselves, to developers, at the expense of people below them. Trying to give away Warren Farm is another example of this, as is Ealing Town Hall Mastcraft saga. Getting rid of the use of Planning Notification letter to inform the people of what might be planned by self aggrandising neighbour developers is anothe example ofthis.In Nazi occupied Poland I do feel that Peter Mason would have been a power hungry collaborator like Chaim Rumkowski was. In the pre partitioned Polish Lithuanian Union, I think Peter Mason and Julian Bell would have belonged to the Targowica Confederation that collaborated with Tsarist Moscovy to prtect the rights of some the more treacherous ruling classes. All for their own status to "look great" with people who are in a stronger position to them. Peter Mason it seems just wants to be number one above all else, just like Chaim Rumkowski was.

Liebore Labour run Ealing Council led by Julian Bell and now Peter Mason have been running dogs for developers above all else. Ealing Town Hall and Mastcraft is an example of this. Also getting rid of Planning Notification Letters, as well.In World War Two, in Nazi occupied Poland, I can imagine Peter Mason being a Chaim Rumkowski type collaborator with the Nazis. Chaim Mordechaj Rumkowski was the head of the Jewish Council of Elders in the Łódź Ghetto appointed by Nazi Germany during the German occupation of Poland. Peter Mason it seems just wants to be number one above all else, just like Chaim Rumkowski was.

Having brought back Clements as chief executive he has compounded the problems He must be voted out at this election. The people of this borough deserve so much better.

They are worried, hence the sudden street cleaning going on all over the borough, as if that makes up for years of neglect.Mason has gone very quiet on things that were announced to great fanfare in recent years.For example, reopening Stirling Road as a recycling and reuse centre. Two years since that big announcement and no sign of any action. No explanation and quietly dropped.The manifesto (which is an unintentionally hilarious read) boasts about the parks, but no mention of Lammas whatsoever. Not included in the part about green spaces for people or the action on climate change. I wonder why?They really don’t want any serious scrutiny of what they do or how they operate. Keep the public at arms length, feed them puff pieces via taxpayer funded Around Ealing and make objecting through petitions almost impossible. We used to laugh at regimes where those in power used that very power to silence the majority. It’s happening here and a lot of people just don’t notice until it’s too late.Must watch what happens with the Trumpers Way development proposal which has attracted over a thousand objections. If it’s refused at planning committee the developers will appeal and win that appeal, at taxpayers expense, because the planning department under Shital Manro has allowed things to drift and not met its statutory obligations. Naive to think that the current plans weren’t discussed at length with the council before being submitted. Cllr Knewstub knows this but is using it as an electioneering opportunity. Cynical.Time for a change.
