This switch to " Fibre' has been a bit of a mistake in our home. All the extensions now no longer work and the whole landline phone system is now dependent of power sourced phones of which we had just one withe others corded and in fixed positions - At lest the handset cannot be misplaced. But it is also 100% dependent of the power supply being uninterrupted and the router functioning correctly.Plus electricity usage is now for 3 phone bases instead of just one or none..  The electricity usage is therefore tripled. But what we have discovered is the slightest power cut and the whole lot needs all the dates resetting and won't work until all handsets are reset.  Last year that was several times. Most other devices seem unaffected if short but not the phone system.  It's also a worry if there is a power outage or an emergency and the phone line is out. We have a very poor mobile deadline here so mobiles are not reliable indoors or even out on the pavement. None of the shortcomings were conveyed and now in hindsight wish we has stayed with what we had as this is both more costly and retrograde. As for mobiles phone use, we look after a few elderly relatives and neighbours and this stop and shop phone system is very challenging for them. Neither have a smartphone but both have hearing and arthritic hands. This make using a phone outdoors very hard if not impossible and one has been the victim of a snatch in Northfields ave. Police advice is to NOT use a mobile in public or on a street.  To use the phone to pay you have to leave your car to get the details fore the location.  For just a 10 or 20 min stop this can take over 10 mins for those not so agile.  Even though raise it is dismissed with a statement about commitment to Active travel by all.Do any of these people peddling such statements have elderly or less able family or friends?    It is quite discrininatory.

Consultations have long been a con in Ealing, and indeed elsewhere. Not promoted widely, skewed questions to obtain desired outcomes and then when results go against the proposed plan they are dismissed as ‘not a referendum’.The idiot Dismal Driscoll stood up on Monday evening and told everyone that the Lammas Park SuDs scheme was widely supported due to lots of positive comments on the planning application. What he didn’t say was that the surge of support be comments came from people who live miles away from the park and plenty who didn’t live in London. This was orchestrated by the Ealing Wildlife group who feared their precious rewilding wouldn’t happen. As it is they’ve got some muddy puddles. And for those living in Hanwell and opposing the Trumpers Way development, don’t be fooled by Cllr Knewstub and her blatant vote catching effort to oppose the plans. There’s not a hope in hell of any local opposition defeating a massive building project on the site and Knewstub knows this. All the planning objections she cites - lack of parking, overdevelopment, not in keeping with character, etc - are routinely ignored by the planning committee. Again, she knows this.Even if the committee rejected the application the developers will appeal and will win because Ealing Council has no data to show the development isn’t necessary. That’s the fault of Cllr Shital Manro and his officers in the planning department who have failed to keep legally required housing figures for years but conveniently ignore any requests for an explanation as to why this is so.So there you have it. Ealing Labour conning residents and then spinning th in ha to make it seem as if it’s what everyone wanted all along. They’ve been running things here for 16 years. Everything that’s happened - good, bad or indifferent - is down to them. Not national government or mysterious outside forces. There are lots of people paid well by the council who just don’t do their jobs but the reluctance to do anything about it should alarm everyone.Elections in May, vote wisely.
