The Destruction of Culmington Road

It's been coming for a while but well under way now and I've not seen it mentioned anywhere?The answer to a slowing economy and this so called Climate "Emergency" is obviously to make getting around harder for the majority.From what I can see preparation is well under way to make the junctions at Churchfield Rd, Elers Road and Lammas Park Gardens one way? Also some nice big pavements to be clogged up with Lime Bikes.If those junctions aren't going to be One Way then they look mighty skinny to me and accidents waiting to happen.I do wonder if the lads doing the work -- who look ever so qualified -- will take the time and attention to not block gullies or drainage runs when doing the work. This of course being one of the sources of "local flooding" (do me a favour) when the table top speed ramps were put in years ago.... the other source being poor sewer maintainence.Should all be finished in time for Christmas - no doubt some cameras to add and some weird rules leading to lots of PCN's

I would argue that pre-emptive measures are best when it comes to avoiding accidents.When it comes to life-changing injuries, or any injuries for that matter, measures which may prevent them are a better solution than waiting for accidents and then putting measures in place.And when I say pre-emptive measures, I mean ones within reason, where no-one gets physically hurt.

Were you born stupid or did you take lessons?The best predictor of future accidents and road injuries is past ones. Identifying accident black spots, and the causes of them will prevent more harm. Your comment confirms what most users of this forum have already worked out, that you are more interested in hating on cars than caring about pedestrians and cyclists.

Goes very quiet when challenged to provide any evidence to back up his fantasies.Ealing roads are generally very safe and nobody drives like they are on a motorway along Culmington. It's always worth looking at crashmap.co.uk for accident data. In the last 6 years there have been two accidents at the Elers Rd/Culmington Rd junction; one in August 2022 involving two vehicles with one slight injury, and one in July 2024 to the north of the junction involving one vehicle and causing one slight injury.

The Destruction of Culmington Road for drivers that don't want to have to stop for people who want to cross the road as they should, stay at higher speeds around the corners, double up at the junction mouths, retain motorway like features for driving and generally treat it as a cut through to avoid main roads rather than a relaxing place between two of Ealing's premium parks.* fixed that for you Colin.

Let’s say for a nanosecond we agree the crossing between the parks could be better - let’s say two zebra crossingsHow in Gods earth do you justify narrowing road junctions and then the junction at Elers Road and Churchfield Road some 4 minutes walk away from the parks?This will cause congestion, issues for waste wagons, deliveries etc and lead to road rage and possible accidents Almost like that’s the plan

A crossing between one premium park and one open sewer.The continued tinkering with roads around there has made things worse, particularly the raised tables that trapped water and caused the ‘flooding’ used as an excuse to smash up Lammas. Driscoll should be dunked in the ponds he’s so proud of.

It will be hundreds of thousands of pounds.It’s done because people like Dismal Driscoll have to justify the £57,000 they each pocket for being cabinet members. They duck any questioning of what they do and pass blame on as quickly as possible. Driscoll is also the ‘brains’ behind the huge destruction of Lammas Park.They will be round canvassing for the next few months although they avoid any homes where they know people dislike their policies. What the hell is a play route ? How much is this costing when the everyday jobs like sweeping leaves are totally neglected making pavements so dangerous. What is it about these councillors they can't leave anything alone that is working? Wasting our hard earned money.

They are not closing any of the roads, but are narrowing them to slow down traffic. Replacing the island with a zebra crossing and installing a ‘play route’ by the corner of Lammas Park Gardens.
