Stop and shop enforcement

Notices have gone up re the stop and shop fiasco. Stop and Shop is now 2 hours and requires phone parking. The notice also states that phone parking is also required during free periods, meaning after time restrictions. Do these councils actually support local businesses? Having to phone outside the resticted hours is just crazy ad a revenue cash cow for this dreadful council. Will not be stopping and shopping in Ealing. Will go to places where this nonsense is not required

This is a scheme which is very devious.Stop & Shop has worked well since it was introduced. If enforced properly ( which it certainly is in South Ealing and Northfields and Boston Manor it is a big risk to abuse.it is noted that there are a small number of ( and I'm assuming) rather cocky business people who seem somehow to park for ages on lines or in bays and only occasionally get ticketed where as the elderly person with a tyre over a line seems to get ticketed within minutes. We watch this often from our office window and it does make one wonder.But for most it is perfect for passing trade and this scheme will kill that in the same way that the removal of stop and shop has destroyed small trading in Brentford.  Ironically art was a Labour Councillor now and MP that brought Stop and shop in as the parking enforcement virtually destroyed local commerce overnight and this reversed things. Latterly it's been the sheer amount of constructuction work and disruption but also incursions into roadspace  that has lost all the S&S parking.This scheme is highly discriminatory to those who have hearing issues and cannot use a phone outdoors, those who do not possess a smartphone or device.It is not mandatory to posses or carry such devices and Police advice, especially in the part of the country is to not use it on the street or in a public place. But the dark secret that LBE will not come clean on is the deal to supply data of all who register and the use of cameras to track residents and visitors.Apart from the fact that the vast amounts of Data being gathered by this and other London authorities without providing easy to opt out means is disgraceful.The Data storage uses vast amounts of energy which cumulatively negate claims of reduced carbon.So further damaging local trade, effectively spying on residents and yet again being less than transparent by producing carefully worded propaganda using 'Could' or 'May' is always the wriggle out of fact tell tale.Could there be a link between those companies making ££££s from reselling and packaging Data to order ? And those with desires to manipulate the data for their own ideals ? Is it elected Councillors or salaried executives either blinkered , corrupted or simply too dense to dare ask questions?The avoidance of answering being clear and open sadly indicate the worst of those options.

Rightly or wrongly, drivers are making it known that they are temporarily stopped.No motorists EVER get “let off”. There are cameras galore & once a warden has issued a ticket, very hard to get out of. Well school zones perhaps, when no one knows rules.Drivers, tradesmen, deliveries, don’t have time to find a space, register, walk with loads of goods, do park where they can. Otherwise, the economy would be shot to pieces.Perhaps one of you Lycra luvvies can explain how cyclists can flout any road laws, without fear of penalties. Also demand more rights on the roads, yet contribute least

You have lots of time on your hands Ben. Why not pop out and ask them yourself instead of whingeing on here?If they are breaking the law they should be dealt with appropriately regardless of lights flashing or not.It might surprise you to learn that the vast majority of drivers don’t flout the rules and are irritated by those who do.

What are drivers ommunicating to a traffic warden when they leave the hazard lights on? Is it 'I have not registered or paid for my parking so please be kind to me and let me off?!'Will you have a go at answering at least one of these questions?

Can you explain to all of us why parked cars that have their hazard lights flashing will always belong to a driver who deliberately chooses to take a chance? This is because their car is liable to be ticketed. On the other hand, those who do pay for parking will not leave their cars with the hazard lights flashing.Maybe you can shine your hazard lights on this peculiar phenomenon?

What about the driver who parks their car outside a shop, often in a cycle lane or on a double yellow line (or both), and has the hazard lights flashing believing that doing so provides immunity from a ticket?Aren't they the real plonkers? The same ones who bitterly complain, yet are too stingy to buy a ticket. My theory is that the bigger the car the more likely that the driver will not pay for a parking ticket.

Except that it’s not free. There’s a ‘convenience fee’.The old system worked perfectly well. The places where there were occasional problems could have been sorted out with traffic wardens enforcement, although since the wardens are in dispute with Ealing Council that might have meant Mason and chums having to get off their butts and negotiate.What this will do is discourage passing trade for many of the smaller shops. Of course, stupid bigots seem to think that cyclists will plug that gap. What happened to that false argument about them spending more money locally?

Peter, during operational hours, if you want to park in the bay you have to register your parking, then the first half an hour is free.

I took a wander to South Ealing Rd this morning to check out the signage. I don't think you will have to register outside the 9-5 hours.The 10p 'convenience fee' is quite recent and a bloody liberty when you have no choice but to use the App.

Only it’s not free, there’s a fee to register.The old system worked fine. This is just a way of ensuring increased revenue for the crooks in Perceval House. If people decide to park for longer and take up all available bats then it won’t increase turnover of vehicles. Only half wits like Pauls James and Driscoll would think otherwise.They produced zero evidence to back up the need for this change, despite FOI requests being put in. But then that’s par for the course with this mob.

Elizabeth, deciding whether or not to park or shop somewhere is a very personal decision. I don't believe that anyone will need to register outside of the restricted hours.  The free period referred to is the initial 30 minutes, within restricted hours.
