Marlborough Road Over Development (Again)

The Borough remains under attack from profit searching Developers looking to maximise £ with no concern for impact.I am all for houses being refurbished or built - and I'd stress that as houses and NOT shoeboxes squeezed onto plots or houses being chopped up into flat demises. I am not anti Construction -- it's how I earn my living after all !!!As suspected 6 Marlborough Road is under attack again after previous plans were quite rightly rejected.This house has a recent chequered history due to the current owners intentions but I wont go into that.Please review the new Planning App as below and consider making comments if you object to the loss of a historical house on a quiet Ealing street.Remember - it could be your neighbouring property next.https://pam.ealing.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=T0U66VJMMKD00

You are either totally contrary or a total bellend (both would be a fair guess).Sometimes just stop and consider the whole picture with a pragmatic view before diving straight in to be argumentative and shoot people down.This isn’t “a bit of land”It’s not a brownfield site This is an existing house of historical interest with a facade that has stood there for over a century and its ion a residential area of housing stock.Plenty of flats have been built 80 seconds walk from this plot and I’d hazard a guess many of those remain empty.Don’t fire off the guff about a housing shortage. That is balls and maybe you need to look deeper into how the murky world of empty plots works.If this was an old pair of garages or wasteland in the middle of a residential street then I’d be all for a HOUSE being built. Houses of a good stock just aren’t being built in this country anymore. I don’t count these dolls house estates being thrown up off of motorway skip roads; they are another mass produced problem for 25 years time.Back to the matter at hand.A developer will build what they are permitted to do (and push the envelope then). That is why it is for the council to do the decent thing and ensure the covenant governing this plot is honoured and the charecter of the street is retained

What's exactly your point here?You own a bit of land, do you build a house on it that's going to have a market value of two million (and then some in the area we're talking about), or do you put a building with several flats on it that are going to have market values of £650k each?

Just wanted to say the Ealing Today cover story that's gone up today isn't quite right.The retention of the EXISTING facade is not confirmed in the new Planning App; I understand the whole building is to be demolished with a sympathetic rebuild of the facade to match.The facade and all historical links will be lost and you can imagine how sympathetic a current day build will be.This also involves a substantial basement dig -- thank Christ for the Lammas Park Swamps taking all that displaced groundwater hey?Finally.... houses at a million pounds. What's exactly your point here? So what? Progression up the ladder and people growing into traditional family units means a stock of HOUSES of the right type and volume need to be out there. When I bought my first flat my aspiration was always to make my way up the ladder to the biggest and best house I could afford over time. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Wrong again Paul. There are plenty of houses in Ealing that cost substantially less than a million. There a variation between areas. Why not have a look on Rightmove and educate yourself a bit?
