Locked cabinets at the Co-op

The Co-op in South Ealing Road now has all its alcohol locked up. If you want to pick up a bottle of wine for dinner you have to ring a bell and wait until a member of staff can be bothered to come and help.I know that shoplifting is a problem, but so is treating your paying customers as if they were criminals.Sorry, Co-op: I'll be taking my custom elsewhere from now on.

I'm not sure the Police attended, I think they were very busy with my Hurty Words on the NextDoor website.

Is that not classified as robbery, rather than shoplifting.I presume police were called & they actually attended, did something

The Co-ops are easy targets for thieves. The one on Boston Manor Road under the M4 is regularly raided. A friend’s daughter was in there a couple of weeks ago to buy something and a masked gang ran in, emptied the tills and grabbed anything to hand before running out to their waiting getaway car. This was in the middle of the day, broad daylight and with shop staff powerless to stop it.Not a pleasant thing to witness for a teenage girl. Little wonder more and more shops are barricading stock and tills.

Because the majority of law abiding, paying clientele, don’t wish to be inhibited by lawless, thieving druggy or pisshead, unemployed, unwashed scrotes.Where the police take no action & the normal rest of us pick up the pieces, by paying more

Sadly,this is a sign of the times and is happening in quite a few outlets.Your slightly barbed comment regarding very probably over worked and underpaid staff is possibly unjustified.Or maybe that too is a sign of the times.
