Fly tipping

There are a number of the trunks of dead trees along the verge of the Uxbridge Road on Ealing Common. Were they felled for safety reasons? Were they felled because they were infected? And should they be removed to prevent the infection spreading to nearby trees? Is leaving them the cheapest option? And is the council guilty of fly tipping? Something doesn't look right to me. Help!

Paul Hi, I think my concern was about the spread of bleeding canker, a disease of horse chestnut trees. Richmond Park has many antique oaks reaching the end of their life span...quite a different matter. RHS has info I am sure.

If you want to see a lot of logs from cut down trees just lying around head to Richmond Park. I guess they must know what they're doing.

We've got some spare ones you can have in Montpelier park that have been there for months. I'd suggest that much like ''wilding May'' when the grass in council properties or on roads doesn't get cut, it's a money saving exercise by our lovely council.
