Dirty Ealing

Just had a big chuckle at the statement that streets are swept twice a year as opposed to the old target of four times. Where I am on the Brentham estate we have mainly leaves but other rubbish lying in the gutters where it has accumulated since the last sweep in 2024! Is it any wonder that some streets can look like streams when it finally does rain as the rubbish washes into the drains. I hope the lack of attention is not down to the fact that Labour have never had a councillor for the Hanger Hill ward.

I have said it multiple times, I am mystified as to why the numerous Residents' Associations don't all liaise and at least discuss fielding Independent RA Candidates.They've all got the required Deposits in their treasuries and it's worked magnificently in Epsom & Ewell for some 70 years!To be honest, I think it's suspect that the RA's don't bother to even consider this, they're always ALL complaining and wanting the Council to DO stuff, and this would be a VERY good betting chance to instigate REAL change.But it seems to me that the RA's aren't interested? Why?There's MORE than enough Retired Professionals, Company Directors and People With At Least Half A Brain residing in Ealing Borough who possess civic pride & integrity and would be Einsteins compared to most of the Ward Councillor Dross inflicted on us and we are forced to endure & suffer from.

Walpole Councillors apparently went door knocking in South Ealing during the Marathon event.  Seems they had a list of addresses to NOT call at where complaints had been lodged and unresponded to.Seems they also failed to notice the months old detritus of twigs, leaves and damaged pavements in a several streets, or acknowledged the residents of a couple of streets who have for the past decade cleared leaves that then remain uncollected until the bags split and rot.Nor the blocked gully drains from detrius of last year and beyond.They failed also to realise that most of those residents are all well over 70 years old and do it out of pride and duty - Not for publicity.Had these elected representatives got out more, they might notice more than  few things that they have failed to take notice of.The leaflet was a complete load of hogwash.  New Parks?  They cannot even manage the basics of the existing ones or the abundance of trees this whole borough is famous for.They really need to go. The honourable thing would be to resign but they know they can win , Heaven Knows why.  Either the Lib Dems and Cons get their act together and unify putting duty and the district above political differences or  proper local independents stand with a very clear and open mandate.Can't see either happening.

The prevailing thinking about park bins is that there shouldn’t be any. Lacking the capacity to accommodate all the rubbish a large number of park users wish to deposit in them inevitably leads to overflows. The answer in some parks has been to remove them.Unfortunately people tend to find alternative ways to dispose of things. Hanging dog poo bags on bushes is very popular, while a surreptitious deposit of plastic in bushes is another favourite.The problem isn’t necessarily the council not collecting, it’s irresponsible behaviour by people who ought to know better.

Walking on Drayton Green this morning (Monday) the bins were overflowing with dog waste bags & other general waste.The council had clearly not been to empty bins over weekend, a busy time in park I would imagine,& it’s anyone’s guess if it will be done today.No wonder places/Ealings a tip

No,  just not an inveterate moaner and I since it's people that make a lot of the mess a lot of people find it can be more successful and satisfying incorporating meeting up and litterpicking as a part of their routine exercise.

Luckily our lovely councillors made sure that there as less money for services after the 2022 election by voting to give themselves a massive increase in allowances. Mason got a 70 percent increase!The total of extra allowances amounts to £1million over four years. Then you wonder why your council tax goes nowhere.They had planned a further increase for 2025/26 but this has been ‘deferred’ apparently. Since when did you handle PR for this appalling council we have? I sweep the litter into a pile and leave it to be taken away. I did this last year and managed to get a local councillor to get a street clean. The plums at the council accused me of piling it up so tightly that the rain etc made it into a lump! I don't pay my inconsiderable council tax to do the work for them and I'm sure that goes for most of Ealing.

No need to swear matey. You are lucky in West Ealing as I can assure you that we don't get more than one visit a year that has to be chased with one of the local councillors as our rubbish (pun intended) council are hopeless. Maybe they see the dump that is West Ealing as core heartland for their voter base and don't, despite having done nothing to improve it, want to lose it to an opposition party with the elections coming up next May?

The amount of broken glass everywhere.Street cleaning nowadays just doesn’t exist.Even walking down pavements, you need to duck from uncut trees. Around bases, takes out half pavement .

Bollocks they do it twice a year even.. out here in West Ealing, I can’t remember the last time they jet washed the pavements on our high streets.  Looks bloody disgusting.
