Consistency

Two London MPs were recently suspended from the Labour party for what I felt were, if at all, minor errors. At the last election a strong candidate in Chingford was by-passed by a preferred "parachuted" Labour candidate..vote split and IDS (Conservative) elected. Contrast that with what is happening to AR's case. I have some sympathy because things are very complex now. Many of us feel forced to delegate. Further it has become difficult to judge the quality of those to whom we delegate. Many of us made a mistake some years ago because we seem to have a Council who aren't representing or indeed canvassing our views.

MPs and other Elected Officials should, for a start, be on Contracts of Employment for their tenure.That way we can easily get shot of them for Gross Misconduct and the myriad other transgressions which we can use to see them off when they misbehave.Under the ludicrous and undemocratic current system we are stuck with them regardless and that is not only unacceptable, it's just plain wrong.But NONE of them would vote that one through would they!The Integrity Train, which used to reasonably serve all Party Stations, pulled out decades ago and has never returned.We have lovely Politicians.

....and how many properties does Starmer have? and many, many others in Labour have multiple properties and unusual arrangements, many legal but only for MPs ( Like their pension schemes)Local Councillors and their cohorts are just as bad.Rayner was stitched up by her own comrades but the division of 'metropolitan middle class working class heroes' who have the benefit of contacts to cover their tracks and not get caught out.They are slippery but will turn on anyone who might upset their cosy arrangements and her policies and own policy don't exactly dovetail and it might yet expose the rest in a rather awkward way.Of course, she is also part of a party that dictates how the great unwashed should live and be taxed but of course not themselves.It should be the same for all, but never is, especially in politics. from top to bottom.It won't change, one thing that always brings MPs of all parties together is when it comes to perks and opportunities.

All Labour candidates will be ‘parachuted in’ by head office from now on with little input from ‘the membership’. I expect the upcoming deputy leadership election to be stitched up somehow as well. The present reshuffled cabinet is more right wing than ever, so I don’t see Rayner’s long fought for legislative initiatives surviving either. Rayner’s first mistake was to be Angela Rayner, and her second was to try and break out of her working class rough diamond class bound situation and, horror of horrors, buy a second home, double horrors, in Brighton!  Uproar all round at such a thing, particularly from her loyal constituents, resenting such aspirational success. ‘She’s got stuff down there and we’ve got nowt up here!’ How double dare she!

"And it applies to all parties."  Ain't that the truth!Whether or not you believe Reform are "good" I think everyone is interested in how they'll turn out as/when/if they gain power.Will they robustly DO what they say they will, or will they morph into the same old?No reams of postings on here please, it's all time wasting conjecture, we just don't know and will have to wait and see.Meanwhile, I am gleefully watching Comrade Starmer and his Politburo ShitShow falling apart. I KNEW this would happen when they gained power, Liebore NEVER change but the "Boxers" (Animal Farm) keep voting for 'em.  😉

Such a shame in some ways. AR achieved against all the odds and set out with the best of intentions and to fight for things that she believed in, which were very much principles of fairness that few could disagree with.But it became more than apparent that she succumbed to the two stage hypocrisy that seems to engulf most in politics.And whilst she may have fallen from the top of the tree there are plenty at local council level who are far worse, and more than a few in this very council who would be wise to either get out at the next election or take a long hard look at themselves.And it applies to all parties.
