West Ealing Action Group

The future development and spending of considerable funds in West Ealing is to decided by this group. An Ealing officer called Connor McDonagh I presume is responsible for selecting its membership. At these sensitive times how has he included The West Ealing Islamic Centre and not St John's Church, The Hindu Temple in Chapel Road, The Salvation Army, The Assyrian Cathedral formerly St James's etc?  Neither has he included elected councillors. Who has given him this power to evade common sense and democracy?

It says that at the base of every info sheet. Maybe your MP might be able to tell you more about this. If that fails join West Ealing Neighbours.Percival Castle remains closed to the public it purports to serve...the draw bridge is being installed behind the shuttering as we speak...so you can't ask there. Tan Afzel is mentioned on one of the papers. You may be able to email her by trying various combinations with @ealing.gov.uk at the end.

In general, since I have been going to Planning Committee meetings from 2013/14, I have noticed that Labour run Ealing Council and their democratic services have been evolving into a more authoritarian body. Just like happened in Soviet era Poland and East Germany, or at present in Putin's Duchy of Moscovy Empire and the Chinese Communist Party's Empire, based in Peking. It seems that this primative primate feudal control freak impulse seems to be associated with socialism, including national socialism, and communism. Proscibing information to the people is also trait of this feudal control freak impulse, except to the chosen few. Steven Toft and Jo Smith, you are not of the chosen few, therefore you are not members of the "general public", and therefore you will not receive the information you desire.

Where did you hear about this Arthur?I have searched for West Ealing Action Group and I couldn't find anything in connection with Ealing Council. I tried similar titles linked with the name of the council officer mentioned. Still nothing. Goodness knows, West Ealing Centre needs some TLC – as does Ealing town centre as a whole - but this road has been travelled down repeatedly in the past 25 years without getting anywhere.  Will things be different this time round? The signs are not propitious.This exercise looks set to follow closely the footsteps of previous ones. Those who have already come this way will see it’s reached step 2 of a 5 step exercise in futility:Step 1: Secure some public money from somewhere – TfL, the GLA or the Government are likely sources. £50,000 is a good amount.Step 2: Buy a few packs of post-it notes, find a room, make some powerpoints, gather some like-minded folk together and have yourself a workshop or two. Step 3: Post the outcomes of Step 2 on a website. Don’t forget to include the heading ‘next steps’. Step 4: An inner group gets going on the ‘next steps’. Phew, it’s slow going but the group reports eventually. OK things are a bit different from what was said at Step 2 but there are lots of recommendations for politicians to champion. Step 5: Nothing happens. The inner group is sidelined and the report is shelved. The world moves on until eventually, a new group starts again at Step 1. West Ealing Centre Neighbourhood Plan shows how it works. The plan was prepared by a neighbourhood forum with £37,000 of public money. It carries lots of worthwhile policies and was approved in 2018 after a local referendum. It is recognised in Ealing’s new Local Plan but otherwise it’s been ignored - by LBE generally as well as the new West Ealing Action Group. A similar fate befell the West Ealing Liveable Neighbourhood Project, which promised to improve West Ealing with £8m of projects. ‘Over the summer of 2019, the council engaged with local stakeholders, residents and visitors’. A glossy report was published in 2020 but that’s as far as things got.  And now we are told the West Ealing Action Group will reinvent the wheel once again. As I say, I fear it’ll be an awful waste of everybody’s time and money.

As with everything Liebore Controlled LBE does, it would seem that things are being heavily "engineered".We can but hope that the absolute Numpties who keep putting them  back into power wake up and come to their senses.Sadly, I doubt it, when you're that vacuous and/or brainwashed there is usually no hope.    ☹

I posted the original message because this Action Group did not include many who have worked hard to improve West Ealing.Have the Local Councillors arranged meetings for the people to monitor their thoughts and fears? Walpole Councillors have had no surgery or meeting interface with the public for over 4 years. I mentioned the religious groups because some were not represented. Why some and not others? I should have mentioned West Ealing Neighbours who have worked for many years to improve many aspects of this area. Completely ignored. This is really important because the newly formed Action Group is designed to spend considerable sums of public money. Clearly Nanny knows best.

Could you elaborate on? Are you saying funds are development is so being spent on religious vanity projects ? I would object to this. Vehemently   This needs to be stopped!
