Agree that the Euros win was a great achievement for all concerned. Considering the sporting talent they must still be available in this country we do rather underachieve across all sports in comparison to countries like France and Germany, so any major triumph should be celebrated.As for the honours system, well it’s a joke. Plenty of unsavoury characters get ennobled (Savile and Fred Goodwin spring to mind). Khan got his knighthood to keep him quiet about the government’s screwing over of London. He makes no complaint about TfL funding from Labour, even though it’s no better than the Tories gave him. Meanwhile the costs, particularly NI contributions, have increased.London is destined to become a giant theme park, a playground for the wealthy from home and abroad while most living here are increasingly marginalised and priced out.  A tourist tax should be brought in, he could justify it by improving police spending. I’m sure the tourist flocking here will be grateful.Which brings us to crime. Rates are going up, particularly shoplifting, and to say people ‘obsessing about crime spend too much time on social media’ is nonsense. You only have to put in the local news bulletins to hear about the latest stabbing incident. Only the most determined of miserablists could take such a joyous event as the Euros victory and the participation of a local person in it as an opportunity to have a moan about the wonderful city we live in.It is now the world's best liked tourist destinationhttps://www.travelandtourworld.com/news/article/tripadvisor-awards-name-london-best-destination-ousting-dubai-after-years-at-the-top/and my own view is that it gets better and better.People obsessing about crime in the capital spend too long on social media. The reality is that London is a lot safer that it was a few decades ago and knife crime and murder are down since 2019. The current Mayor's tenure has coincided with a generally poor national economic picture and cuts to policing driven by the Home Office as well as a significant population increase in London. Despite this crime overall hasn't risen much. The honours system is a nonsense but I do think it is hilarious how much some people are annoyed by having to say Sir Sadiq.It was great to see the scenes in Pall Mall and if you can't share Chloe's joy in being English and from London at this time of all times, there is simply no hope for you.

There's not much 'honur' in a system that rewards our with a knighthood mayor after he has overseen the decline of London for 10 years now.Knife crime,shoplifting,street theft and violence all up year on year and the roads are public transport hanging by a thread.If has been judged as a success,I would hate to see someone who has failed.

The honours system is indeed in need of an overhaul, it needs to be focused on achievement both personal and moreover for the wider community and country in general.Leaving aside that women footballers are not overpaid compared with the sometimes obscene amounts paid in the mens game. They weren't the best team in the tournament but their never say die attitude and obvious pride in playing for their country surely deserve recognition . Also as role models for thousands of young girls who might have thought football wasn't the game for them.

Taking nothing away from the players, I’m delighted they won.Drop any talk of honours.They get handsomely paid, luxury travel & accommodation.Sponsorship, for basically doing their job.The whole honours list is ridiculous, the normal person in the street is far more deserving

While it is quite right to cheer individual successes like this, it is worth remembering they are not possible by the participation of legions of unpaid volunteers at the grass roots level. For Chloe it might have been Actonians LFC but every one of the players who won the Euros will at some point in her career have benefited from people who selflessly gave their free time to give them the opportunity to develop.
