Vital safety upgrade at busy Elizabeth line station won't start for at least four years

A bit of a walk would do them good.Maybe Paul and his fellow bikies should spend a day getting around in a wheelchair. You also need to remember Paul that not everybody using that solitary space will be in possession  of a Blue Badge particularly if they're just doing a favour for a disabled friend or relative to drop them off at the station. Therefore any imaginary concession will not apply. The provision is simply inadequate

Ealing's Blue Badge restrictions are identical to those in 27 other London Boroughs. City, Camden, Westminster K&C and Southwark have local arrangements. A Blue Badge does NOT give the user the right to park beyond displayed time limits except where there is a clearly displayed concession (such, as example,  as exists on a couple of spaces in King Street, Hammersmith).  I would love sight (in a formal document) of the concession to Blue Badge holders to overstay the five minute limit on the ONE designated space that you, uniquely, seem to have 'discovered' or do we all simply categorise this alongside the imaginary squadrons of skip lorries that chase you when cycling?

Five minutes is also totally inadequate to move a disabled traveller from their seat into a wheelchair and then wheel them to the station entrance to locate and handover to railway staff (assuming that they are available, even if pre-booked).It is patently obvious that you have no one close who as mobility issues else your total ignorance on such matters would no be so obvious.

Yet there is a 79 page best practice guidance document from the Department of Transport on inclusive mobility which includes guidance on the provision of escalators for disabled travellers. It also recommends that 10% of parking spaces should be 'fully accessible' with a maximum gradient of 1:50 between the parking space of the transport infrastructure. The SINGLE (shared use) SPACE AT Ealing Broadway station is not even on the same side of the road as the station.Do post again when you have a clue!

gov advice on escalators...It should be borne in mind that escalators are difficult for some people to use and cannot be used by wheelchair users and some assistance dog users. Therefore, generally, where there are substantial changes in level, a lift should be provided.

One day Mr James you will admit that you are hopelessly out of your depth and wrong when discussing disability and disabled access issues. There is not a single disabled drop-off point that provides direct access to Ealing Broadway station. There is one that provides a 50 metre route to the station but 50 meters is beyond the designated distance set for mobility by the Department of Work and Pensions. People in wheelchairs can use properly designed escalators as I proved to you by posting pictures of such escalators in use at a number of airports. Do carry on posting your rubbish if it makes you feel happy, it only makes you look even more out of touch with the needs of disabled travellers.  Angry? I'm sure there are issues, in fact I've seen a few videos of people having problems with the service, but also I see many people using this service, and yes, I think if everybody that felt they needed it asked for it I'm sure there would be an issue that would need sorting out.Still, it remains a service and is there for people to book or use.Trying to petend it's not there or totally disfunctional is like when you where saying there's not a parking spot for cars right outside ealing broadway station Nigel to allow step free access to the platforms, when there is. Not helpful from you!And then when you said there should be escalators at ealing broadway rather than lifts without noticing yourself that people in wheel chairs can't use escalators....Carry on!

Anybody who thinks that passenger assistance will be readily available at any time, even booking ahead, lives in a fantasy world. Then again looking who has posted this facile comment, I am not surprised. TFL have been called out on more than one occasion by Transport For All for not having the required assistance available even to those passengers who booked ahead Walk a yard (most will never be able to walk a mile)in a disabled passenger's shoes Paul then you might have some understanding.

I wrote twice to the boss of Network Rail soon after breaking a bone in my foot falling from an Elizabeth Line train at Ealing Broadway on 27 February 2024.I am still waiting for a reply to either of the letters.
