Petition for safety at A4 Junction with Clayponds

In light of another terrible collision this week, I would like to revive this petition from a few years ago, which calls for making the crossings and areas around them safer.https://www.change.org/p/a4-junction-safety

The article has been around since February 2024. Sad that it took you so long to find it. I am not wrong, if you can find someone to read my responses to you to explain the longer words then you will see that I am no advocate of using a mobile phone while driving but if you must then hands-free is the way ahead.  I find it on the VERY rare occasion when I use it, last time was when reporting an RTA that I witnessed near  Lyndhurst to be  no more distracting than speaking to somebody in the car while driving. I am so sorry that you can't admit when you are wrong. Be a little more alert and you may spot these research articles earlier. Keep taking the meds. Enjoy the sunshine.

No you don't at all. I was a cyclist before spinal injury and I witness poor driving and riding every day. Much captured on my dashcam and sent to the National Dashcam Safety Portal. What if anything, happens to the 'footage' after that I know not. Paul is simply a fantasist, imagining incidents and has a 'creative' approach to accident statistics. Ben, just simply makes things up or, if he cannot do that, simply lies about what others have said.They really have zero credibility, please don't follow them into fantasy land.

You like to film yourself shouting at car drivers, yet never a home movie of these skip lorries.I’d be surprised if anything moves beyond the speed limit in Richmond High Street. The number of buses and crossings tends to reduce traffic speed significantly. I’ve been through there twice today and no speeding, or skip lorries either!

What is it about cycling fantasists?  The Facebook link posted by Ben Owen has a series of photos supposedly showing dangerous driving and red light jumping by two white vans before they struck a moped in a 'before and after' sequence, has four problems.1.The 'before' and 'after' photos are identical.2.The vans are clearly shown driving westbound through a GREEN light the collision was on the eastbound carriageway.3.The location shown is not that where the accident occured it is a full 200 metres away at a different junction.4. There is no moped in the photos.So, there we have it, a fantasist and a liar posting their version of facts. Is it really any wonder that you both have absolutely no credibility?

I do not know what you two are more angry about; is it me bringing the incident to your attention, or me making the claim that I am certain that it was avoidable? I suspect the car driver is really a cyclist and consequently thought the rules of the road don’t apply to him/her.Or there again there might be an explanation for what’s happened forthcoming from the authorities in due course, although there seems to be a dearth of information about anything local these days, on anything.

Right now, the safe A4 is closed at the junction of Ealing Road. This is caused by a serious car crash. I do not know how what caused the crash, but it is very likely that it could have been easily avoided.

Indeed it is. My petition however which your compatriate chose to lie about was for an increase in the penalties for non hands-free use of mobile phones. Personally I only use my mobile phone hands-free in an emergency something that I've had to do twice in 10 years.

I do not see that as a victory. I am putting the record straight - no gain to me means no victory. What is fascinating is why you would think that as a victory, when it never crossed my mind to do so.Some people need to be right always. They cannot stand to lose an argument. Nigel was endorsing the use of headphones. Included in his petition was a statement to the effect 'that it should become mandatory to use headphones when making/or receiving a call.' If you are driving and using a phone handsfree you are three times more likely to have a collision than someone who is not using their phone at all. The Police and Roadpeace - the charity - will both agree with me. Nigel can explain for himself why he would like to encourage drivers to have a crash. With regards to the petition, Change.org do not delete petitions. If they were to they would have written to Nigel and told him. They did not need to do this because there was nothing defamatory in his petition. Either Nigel suspended the petition or deleted it himself. The person creating the petition has an opportunity to do one of the other by logging into their account.

That should have read virtually unanimous support.  Despite the petitions very little has changed and morons still drive while using handheld phones. I petitioned for a minimum of six points and a £500 fine, meaning that a second offence within three years would have resulted in an immediate ban under topping up

The A4 is a TfL road so petitioning Hounslow council won’t make a jot of difference.If you are so worried about the crossings and lighting why not push for TfL budgets to be spent on improving them rather than millions being spent on cycling infrastructure that hardly anyone uses.
