Please keep this forum cicvil

As a newcomer to the forum I was quite excited by interacting with my neighbours over various local issues.I know there have been divisive subjects of conversation locally, and although I'm not on social media such as Twitter, I do keep up with local Facebook groups.I have lively conversations with people I disagree with all the time, but we never call each other names simply for taking a different view. What adult does that? Why has this forum been taken over by a small group of people who are so insecure that they persistently have to resort to playground insults? I invite others who visit to bring some decorum and maturity to the Ealing Today Forum. It is badly needed, and I suspect will be very welcome by the majority of us who would like a constructive discussion, whether we agree with one another or not.

I understand a 'heated' debate, and different points of view, and I'm perfectly prepared to join in.I just don't think it's necessary to call people names, especially when they have no relevance to the topic discussed. It doesn't strengthen the argument, for one, and just shows an inability to communicate.

It was not he who complained but some bleeding heart liberal who objected to me telling him to f*** off and show some common decency. The "supporters" messages condemning me were a pain rather than distressing.

One and the same. Actually I never got kicked off Ealing Today (you can check with NeighbouNet should you wish) but I did change e-mail provider and address in 2015 after receiving threats following my calling out of (including swaering online at)  a conspiracy theorist who claimed that the massacre of a number of black worshippers at a church in Charelston NC was staged and that he had 'proof' that they were actors. Be advised, I shall conntinue to call out such odious people. Hope this satisfies your little gloat. Pathetic.

On a tangental point, I have been placed in the Sin Bin on NextDoor about 7 times now, lengthiest period of my penance was 6 weeks. 😆 Mind you, if you want to feel comfortable, surrounded by fellow Lefty Liberal Wokes, NextDoor is definitely the place! Especially the "Administrators", who see any common sense, normal points of view as "Hard Right!".  🤣

Moderation falls within the remit of the moderators.If you are ever unhappy about a post,you can refer it to them and they will consider it.There should be no need for personal insults,but you know what some are like if what you say gets unde their skin.T'was ever thus and will probably be.
