"This no left/no right turn out of Longfield Road has nothing to do with Labour." (19/09/24 12:50:00  Ben Owen)The no left turn out of Longfield Avenue (NOT ROAD), into Uxbridge Road by the Town Hall has everything to do with Labour run Ealing Council. The various changes occurred between the local elections of 2014 and 2018. Firstly they relocated the pedestrian light controlled crossing from in front of Perceval House to in front of the Town Hall. This in part it seems, so that the then officious wobble bottomed Leader of the Council, could reach the shops across the road more quickly to get his food. This led to more traffic building up at the mouth of Longfield Avenue and Uxbridge Road/New Broadway "threatening the safety" of Ealing Council's top dog nomenklatura in their quest to endear themselves to developers. This includes giving away the Town Hall to the developers MASTCRAFT.Therefore, afterwards Labour run Ealing Council introduced the no left turn into Uxbridge Road out of Longfield Avenue, and no right turn into Longfield Avenue from Uxbridge Road for motorists, enforced with fines. With time, Ealing Council have improved the signage. All this has increased congestion along the W13 postcode part of Gordon Road between The Avenue and the junction of Carlton Road with St Leonards Road. And also St Leohards Road and Uxbridge Road by Ealing Fire Station. The W5 postcode part of Gordon Road from the St Leonards/Carlton Roads junction and Haven Green is quieter now. This enables the top dog nomenklatura of Ealing Council to serve their Labour political masters more safely in being lackeys and running dogs for any old developer under the sun. This includes giving away the Town Hall away to developers Mastcraft, because they seem too inept and tight a**ed to maintain it themselves. This despite being able to raise money from fining unwitting motorists at the Longfield Avenue/New Broadway road junction. Also, the Haven Green end of Gordon Road junction only allows traffic out into Haven Green. The removal of the roundabout, in 2022, on the junction of Gordon Road with St Leonards/Carlton Roads has increased the chance of an accident/collision, in my opinion. Also I think an equivalent traffic island on the W13 part of Gordon Road like there is immediately on the W5 part of that junction would have been better than the zebra crossing that was placed there. I feel the traffic would move more freely in a self regulartory way with less chance of collisions, if the roundabout had remained, plus the traffic islands. But try to get that across to narcissistic Labour run Ealing Council.Myself, I am neither a driver or a cyclist, but just a pedestrian who has lived in the area since the second half of the 1970s.
