What a load of rubbish Rosco.BTW I have never said that I agree that it is a good idea for the energy companies to be given money by Govt to support those who have difficulties paying their bills, nor have I said that I thought it was a good idea that Govt should prevail upon charities to do the same.  I happen to think that it is Govt's responsibility to have appropriate policies.I have always said that I thought it was completely mad to expect the privatised energy companies who want to make as much money as possible to be helping those who are having problems paying their bills by helping them to reduce the amount of energy they use.  After all they want to sell as much energy as possible.Getting charities to support those needing help is also just a way of Govt avoiding responsibilities for their policies.

The DWP has been sending out letters.  Anybody who will have a problem should be exploring where they can get help before they get into debt.  Their energy companies have been given grants to help them and Govt has for msny years been using the charities to support those in need.

Fires?  Just listen to the evidence given about the Grenfell fire and the Coronavirus Pandemic - where the population has been severely let down by Govt.  There have been so many scandals where nothing has been done to compensate victims or even redress properly the problems that have been caused by reducing sensible regulation and not maintaining or constructing buildings the way that they should safely be. All in the great cause of saving money for some people and making money for others.It is nothing new to make the hardest and possibly most controversial changes at the start of a new Govt.  It is often the best time.

I think you will find that the very wealthy are particularly adept at ensuring their tax affairs are ‘efficient’ Philippa. It’s how they stay very wealthy.What’s interesting is how quickly this government has seen its popularity evaporate. Much of the £20 billion black hole complained about is down to decisions taken by Starmer and co since the election, particularly pay deals that were agreed in haste without even basic no strike clauses included. They are now seen as a soft touch by the unions when it comes to pay.Targeting the elderly, families and trying to be the party of low tax, one could almost mistake Labour for Red Tories!

Why on earth not?  It concerns everyone who is worried about the change in Winter Fuel Payment.  There's bound to be someone who hasn't kept up with what's going on and ought to be making sure they have checked their eligibility instead of just whingeing about hearsay. If they can't do it for themselves then they need to find someone they trust who can help them with it.
