We have interesting changes to Planning Legislation about to happen.

Not only a lot more Towers, but development on our green spaces too?I predict an utter planning disaster...

There are 10,000 buildings still not remediated following the revelations of the Grenfell tragedy which occurred after relaxations to planning regulations.  This is something that needs to be treated with a lot of care and attention to detail.

The Number One Pitshanger Lane development has been boarded up and abandoned for the best part of two years now. The old folks whose home it was could have enjoyed a bit more time there. I never found out where they went. It always seemed strange to me that the development plans were passed, albeit modified, bearing in mind the shortage of care  in the UK.

All very well building but what's that going to achieve?  Overdensidication means a need for all manner of infrastructure, most of which is unsustainable for such a condensed region.  The daft idea of 'wilding parks and putting in wetlands with no health and safety impact feasibility with a burgeoning mixed human population and thus reducing sport and open air activity further sums up the insanity of policy over common sense

The biggest obstacle is finance in London. Any number of projects in Brentford sat in limbo as the developers say the economic climate isn’t conducive to build.What’s never mentioned by politicians is affordability of all these new homes. You can build them but if people can’t afford to buy them you aren’t really making things better. Plenty of unoccupied expensive properties all over London.

All talk and trousers so far. 300,000 new homes each year for the next 5 years! Cloud Cuckoo land. Borrowing money by developers is still expensive. Only one new start major residential development in Central and West Ealing in recent months.The new Chancellor made no mention of building on Metropolitan Open Land (MOL) which is a major issue in the Gurnell Swimming Pool residential tower blocks' development proposals. MOL enjoys the same 'status' as Green Belt. The chancellor is an economist - maybe she doesn't know what MOL is?Also remember that Johnson and Gove made all kinds of noises about reforming the planning system and nothing really came of it.The planning system is seriously broken and has been for years. It will take much intelligent effort and many years to fix it.
