Peter Mason not Barking

Yesterday Michael Crick was tipping Peter Mason as the hot favourite to take on seat vacated after Darren Rodwell's 'troubles'. In the event it went to the leader of Enfield council. He also says that he was supposed to be the candidate for Ealing Southall but was vetoed by the local branch of UNISON who insisted on Deirdre Costigan instead. Crick says that Mason is close to Morgan McSweeney who is Keir Starmer's strategy guru so he may well get a seat yet.

He may have missed the bus now. The Darren Rodwell seat was an unexpected vacancy.Even the most optimistic Labour supporter isn't assuming the party will have more MPs come the 2028 or 2029 election so this was his chance to become an MP.
