‘Process them more quickly’?You are aware that nothing that involves government, be it national or local, is done quickly. You say they wouldn’t need to house  mass asylum seekers, yet those people would need housing regardless of whether they are processed quickly or not. How do propose to solve that one? What’s interesting is the idea that we allow anyone in regardless of background or reason for coming here. It’s naive to assume that every migrant is entering the country with the intention of living a respectable life and contributing to society. It’s only reasonable to try to find out exactly who each individual is. Poor Alice Gross was murdered by a  Lithuanian who lived here despite a murder conviction in his own country, so it’s not unreasonable to vet people before allowing them to settle here. I didn’t agree with Brexit but there was clearly an issue with unfettered immigration that worries a lot of people, and it’s naive to think that the majority who voted Leave were all right wing extremists. Plenty of Labour voters wanted out too, including a certain Jeremy Corbin. It’s somewhat bizarre that you argue we should be ferrying everyone over. I doubt even a Labour government would agree to that. You make the common mistake of correlating asylum seekers with economic migrants, the latter usually trafficked by unscrupulous criminal gangs.By the way, the government rules about eligibility are quite clear:When your claim might not be consideredYour claim might not be considered if you:are from an EU countrytravelled to the UK through a ‘safe third country’have a connection to a safe third country where you could claim asylumGenerally, a safe third country is one that:you’re not a citizen ofyou would not be harmed inwould not send you on to another country where you would be harmed
