Is there such a diagram?St George’s Day has never been a big celebration in this country, as you rightly state. There was also life football on the telly on Sunday which would keep plenty of people at home.I’m not sure about the peevishness. What might upset people in the current economic climate is spending large amounts of cash organising public events that aren’t really needed or wanted.

"Not so many English people in London these days."..... 😂 👌

The venn diagram of people who might attend a St George's Day event with those who would run a marathon and/or attend an XR protest is likely to show very little crossover. I think not many people turned up because making a big deal of St George's Day has never been an important thing even for those who take pride in their Englishness most of whom previously had been happy to take part in other nation's Saints' day celebrations. Social media has highlighted a small minded peevishness which sees other people enjoying themselves as a slight.

Fair-weather nationalists? Surely a bit of English drizzle wouldn't keep people away?
Paul Scullion ● 376d
Clashed with the London Marathon, which was very busy on Lower Thames Street, and also an XR protest event. But the rubbish weather probably the biggest deterrent to attending a St George’s day festival.

Pictures of the event indicate that not that many turned up.

No tickets or invite required Peter. All welcome.
Paul Scullion ● 377d
Didn't get an invite! What's the next Saints day he can turn up at to ingratiate himself with another set of potential voters?

I hope you both had a great day out at the Mayor's event in Trafalgar Square yesterday?https://www.london.gov.uk/events/st-georges-day-2023
Yes, I'll bet he does! And high time the English stopped being harassed and derided for being English.
