Minor road traffic counts

Oh look, the Department for Transport has revised its data collation for minor roads between 2009 and 2019. Counts cannot actually explain actual use or discern usage.When the tram was proposed a manual census was organised by TfL.However this too was flawed as not one question related to actual car use.IE are you carrying work related equipment etc.The assumption was made if it's one car, one occupant and locally registered, it's an unneccesary journey even if said car and occupant are returning or heading to a 70 mile plus work trip or indeed operate locally.The other assumption was only light vans upwards Vans counted as working vehicles.End result : Completely flawed picture of reality. But a set of statistics TfL wanted.

Whoever was behind it matters not. The fact is that a key premise for LTNs has been built on incorrect data. There is already a move to have all of the ETOs which used this data as justification for implementation to be declared invalid.
