At least the councillors found the money to award themselves a whopping increase in allowances straight after the election. Maybe Mason and the rest could collect the rubbish for a week or two and see how the real world works! There are also a lot of big salaries at the council, among the officers employed there, not least recently appointed Chief Executive Tony Clements who struggles along on £200,000 a year (after the council decided to up the pay for that post just prior to his appointment). Tony also has the £74,000 payoff given to him by Ealing Council when he unexpectedly quit his role as the borough’s Director of Place in 2020. Nice work if you can get it!!
