Happy birthday Sultan!

The Sultan of Brunei..one of the richest men in the world...and with property in Ealing will have been delighted to have received a friendly greeting card from you today...his 76th birthday!He perhaps would be so shocked..but grateful..that you might receive an invitation from him to one of his soires.I know a local lady who was able to keep her horse on his property Avery Farm in Windmill Road... not far from Tescos! He apparently several times played golf at Wyke Green.. and it is said he once strolled into Wycombe House Cricket Club "to see what was going on.Perhaps your investment of a belated birthday card could earn you hugh reward!That's all.

Thank you for that information  Sue.The BBC reports that the Sultan is back in town (in Ealing?) attending the Queen's Funeral.. and visiting an Oxfordshire RAF Station.. to personally present his son his Parachute Certificate following the tough training and tests required.So the Sultan is still about.

Anyone can get their property hidden on Google Streetcam and it costs nothing. In countries like Germany this is commonplace - not just amongst the wealthy..

I read that the Sultan owns 7000 Rolls Royce cars amongst many other vehicles! Such is his collection.I wonder if the Sultan is aware that there are several food banks for the poorest families operating in our Area. Maybe, behind the scenes, he's helping us out. Who knows?

And when He's long gone what's the odds that that vast and well looked after open space will either end up in the hands of developers or descend into the neglected state of the former playing fields?

The farmer who works several of the open fields in Osterley Park..has on occasions chatted with The Avery staff across the boundary line separating his field and the Sultan's garden.I recall a conversation suggesting the Sultan had dozens and dozens of staff and security people..to keep people like me at bay!But it didn't stop scrap metal collectors once stealing some of his double-gates facing Windmill Road.Did you read that the Sultan owns 600 Rolls Royces...and dozens of other cars.. whilst a lot of Ealing Residents have to drive around in old bangers!

You're absolutely right Peter. The Sultan must have paid quite a sum to Google or whoever to have part of his estate blotted out.Of course he is only the most recent resident..probably going back to the early 70's...when I gatherhe was barred from landing helicopters in the field opposite.One building is I believe ..a badminton court.Just along the road..on the other side of the M4..is a lonesome path, leading up to a gate..which is the entrance to the British Airways' Clubs' Angling Club. Not many people know that.And the name of the fishing pond / lake is the Whitney Lake... (Whitney Straker was the previous owner of the Avery..and a boss of BEA and BOAC!)

Intrigued as to why that stretch of Windmill Lane is missing on Google Streetcam, I researched further to find it was a residence of the Sultan of Brunei. The satellite view is not censored so you can admire the swimming pools, gardens, and extensive buildings that sit behind those anonymous gates.
