LBE greenwashing

Nice puff piece on the front page of this site about the air quality monitors outside Blair Peach School.Strange there’s no mention of the previous aqm being removed in 2016 for the duration of the redevelopment of the gas works site. Staff and pupils at the school reported headaches and nausea due to noxious gases being released by the excavations yet LBE did nothing for years. No coincidence that developers Berkeley Group have been very cosy with LBE, including trips to MIPIM for the likes of Bell, Mason and others, as well as a £12m contribution to Council coffers.They even had an employee appointed as a school governor to ensure all went ‘smoothly’. Nothing to see here.Then suddenly a new aqm appears to combat the scourge of ‘car emissions’. Deirdre Costigan is either stupid or lying if she believes that toxic air isn’t simply limited to vehicle emissions. But then that wouldn’t be ‘on message’, would it?

Cllrs Driscoll and Block produced a leaflet claiming pollution hadn’t ‘got worse’ but it hadn’t improved either. Their data was dodgy to say the least and they admitted subsequently the monitoring wasn’t adequate to produce accurate figures.They then went very quiet on it.The council admitted long ago that there were no baseline figures against which any change could be measured.

If you are confident of the data, cite the source. Ealing diffusion tube sites EA05 and EA06 could only have used extrapolated data when the diffusion tubes were removed. EVERY diffusion tube site in Ealing showed a fall in measured levels in 2020  (source 2021_LBE_ASR_FINAL Report). Nothing to do with LTNs as many areas aere unaffected by these scheme and everything to do with a dramatic pandemic reduction in traffic volumes.EA05 and EA06 were already trending downwards prior to the LTN implementation (read the report)Councillors being economical with the truth? Of course they are, to believe otherwise shows a total naievity.

You think a councillor will make a such a claim in a scrutiny panel meeting without evidence to back it up?Or are you saying my claim that it was said in the meeting was made up?

Act your age Pauly, not your shoe size.  You claim that pollution went down. Evidence? Citing a scrutiny meeting is pointless unless there is corroborative data. which there cannot be because, by their own admission, the monitors were not working.Make even the lightest attempt to keep up please.

Pollution went down on Lower Boston Road when LTN 21 was in (in relation to other parts of the borough that didn't get LTNs, so lockdown effect nullified)It was stated in the scrutiny meeting at the council.

I don’t think that’s the case. The recent election was very much a backlash against Tory corruption in Westminster. Rare that Ealing votes conservative. Last time was 2006 after nine years of New Labour.Muppets like Costigan view it as overwhelming support for their idiotic schemes, when they absolutely don’t provide detail of proposals in their manifesto.Ealing Labour shouldn’t be likened to tyrannical regimes of the 1930s. They are far too incompetent for that. Don’t expect to see any scaling back of overdevelopment (as promised pre-election by Mason) or any cessation of the hostility to private car owners, despite many households being reliant on personal transport (other than bikes) to maintain their economic status.One thing they can’t bleat about are Tory cuts, otherwise they’d have no justification for the whopping allowance increases they are pushing through.

In other words, the critical mass point has been reached with regards council tax benefit recipients voting local Labour, irrespective of whether individuals' benefits might/will remain should another administration be voted in.  In short, 'Why rock the boat when I'm doing very nicely, thank you.'What other reason could there possibly be for anybody to keep voting the 'Labour' rabble back into Ealing town hall?

Raymond, it's Sustrans - Short for Sustainable Transport who openly declare that they are a 'cycling organisation'.Their latest virtue signalling is that cycling is more supportive of the LGBTQI+ community than car driving!Not a shread of evidence just a lot of waffle.The fact that thre are LGBTQI+ car groups with thousands of members and have been, in some cases, for almost thirty years seems to have passed them by.

Sadly it's the same old, same old, warping and  creative use of data all of which is been keenly prepared by outside quasi political organisations.Cllr Costigan and other LBE officials have been having secret meetings with and organisation called Sustains who provide packages including influencers and how to influence schoolchildren by various presentations.Funny how the methods of a certain German regime are so happily adopted by Labour of all parties.

Somewhat like three of the pollution monitors at Boston Gardens, Lower Boston Road and Uxbridge Road on the periphary of LTN 21 which were either removed or which failed conveniently prior to the implementation of the traffic restriction. This of course meant that comparative data could not be captured. The absence of this data is in the public domain, one of the pollution monitors was adjacent to  St Mark's school. We're not fools Cllr Costigan, actually those who voted the return of this administration are just that.
