Fears for Wildlife in 'Neglected' Walpole Park Ponds

Read the article on the opening page please. Sums up this hapless, hopeless council that they can't even look after a leisure amenity in one of our parks. Their claim that there is no money left to put the problems right is a scandal. Plenty of money for 20mph speed signs, 24 hour bus lanes and the LTNs though. Thanks you the Muppets who voted this bunch of clowns back in for another four years. Hang your heads in shame.

According to another local chat site, there won't be any fish left to enjoy anything as they are all floating on or near to the top of the pond. Seemingly nothing has been done, one bright spark was suggesting tweeting ''Del Boy'' Mason in order to get some action. Good luck with that, he's probably preparing for his next trip abroad to a developers conference

Dragging another thread back onto topic I am pleased to report that investigations have started today into the issues causing the level drop in the Walpole park ponds. A team were there this morning and told me they were investigating the causes of the problems so it looks like things are progressing. You can all go back to your political ranting now ;-)

Politicians are one thing  and generally the same whatever the party.True, honest, diligent and genuinely locally  committed ones are an absolute minority. Very sad but very much a mirror of our warped and broken society.This is equally reflected in the culture within politically intervened establishments Town Hall culture being one of the worst.Public servants with nothing other than contempt for the public who pay their salaries and a fair bit of contempt for those within who do work hard and diligently but are always kept at arms length.

There are a number of health and safety issues that have been raised by several local people knowledgeable about the issues some of which are quite serious.I understand that the officer responsible for Allotments has not responded to any emails from plotholders and residents for nearly 2 years, similarly officers for Parks on issues of public safety and health.However a large Chestnut tree was cut down in Lammas Park this week on safety grounds so someone somewhere must be working but several local people to the Park have been again warning of practices that have lead to tree root damage being evident. But all have gone ignored.The lack of communication, similarly with planning and those who have lodge objections or concerns are simply never updated or give a contact .It 's all on the faceless website/ online and does not allow for those who work to easily register and completely freezes out those older local people who do not have the latest operating systems of smartphones and that's know to be a very large amount of people for a great many circumstances.But is is an absolute disgrace as to exactly how hard some are working and how hard some are not.
