Half-Hearted, Bunting?
Walking down South Ealing road yesterday noticed how sparse and bleak the bunting is for the Platinum Jubilee. It's too small, and far to sparse to even be noticed.I know theres uncertainty but surely involvement with schools and local community would have produced something more exciting and festive? and much more of it?Even hanging a line of washing would look more eye catching.Public streets should have larger than back garden bunting. It's just way too small for large places. But the gaps between make it almost pointless. There is unlikely to be another Jubilee for avery long time and Platinum possibly never as William is already older than The Queen when she ascended the Throne. It should be at least visually memorable for at least local children as they may well be great grandparents before another. What were those in charge thinking or was the budget simply tiny ? In which case why not put out a call to the communities - which is kind of what the Jubilee celebrates?Had months to plan ahead. If its going to be done why is it it's never done properly?Still, nothing at all in other boroughs. Maybe the inability to do it well was the overriding factor in those boroughs.
