It's two questions really.1. Are Government and London Mayoral Policies detrimental to Boroughs like Ealing?2. Are some local borough administrations too weak, inept, corrupt or willing to not resist or challenge damaging policies? It can be done.Bromley took the GLCs Fares Fare policy to the Law Lords and won which led to the demise of the GLC.It was a challenge that was based on Bromley being mainly in outer zones so locally there was no benefit to residents paying into the GLC/LT coffers. The real problem was the newly established LRT Zone system which could and should have been amended. People outside the GLC boundaries, then as now get the best benefit yet do contribute anything towards LRT ( now TFL) funding. It was not the strongest of cases and did not address the real problems but nonetheless Bromley Council stood it's ground and won.We have far bigger problems with really deep ramifications and no adequate solutions or infrastructure being put in place to cope, and yet no administration prepared to make a stand.Yet happy to stand by, drink at the same trough while small and large businesses continue to move away and overdensification starts to bring unsolvable problems.Yet not one local wannabe or party says a word. And the sitting administration is too easily wooed by grants and funding to toe the line.Bad for everyone in every demographic.
