I have just noticed the collection from my local Post Box has changed from 6pm to 9am so I am no longer able to get my letters in the post the day they are ready. Are others experiencing problems? How can you find later collection times please?

It was explained to me last week by a driver, based at Hanwell SO, that it is now the official policy for ALL collections to be made when it suits the driver! It meant that the Park Road, W7, due to be collected at 09:00 did not get collected until 15.20. The best way to tell whether you have missed the post or not is to check the metal day plate. If it has not been changed to the following day then you should be in luck.

Thank you PhillipaSeems Royal Mail have now updated their website and most collections are now 9am except the ones you mentioned.

Well Him Indoors has just looked at the Ealing Green postbox and the time is now 4.45pm! We think it was 6pm before - it was definitely later than the top of Church Road and the one near South Ealing Station. Those two are now 4pm.Postage goes up quite a lot on 1 April I think and then there is another change next year with bar coding or something.https://www.royalmail.com/sending/barcoded-stamps

We've always used that Ealing Green postbox by the sorting office and college as the later postbox but haven't been past it recently.
Post Office in Ealing Broadway Mall (W H Smith) is 5pm.

Check the sorting office on Ealing Green I think you might find it's 5:30 p.m. m

Thank you N V Brooks but I am looking for a collection around Ealing Broadway where my office is.

The postbox at the junction of Elthorne Park Road and Boston Road and the post box at Boston Parade sub post office both have collections at around 5:30 p.m.

As the Royal Mail website is not up to date can anyone tell me where I can post a letter after 9am for same day collection please?

Not just collections, deliveries seem to be hit and miss. We get, I guess, on average 2 maybe if we’re lucky,3,deliveries a week. There’s clearly a severe shortage of posties.

Sadly Philippa the website is always one step behind the pace. It is inaccurate for both of our local postboxes and the local 'priority box' now has a last collection an hour earlier than shown.Nonsense isn't it? A public service being run into the ground which, in response to falling usage, raises prices resulting in even less use which causes them to raise prices resulting in less use and so it goes on. A Tory disaster which has resulted in higher prices and lower service. Indefensible, yes, even by me.

I had not been able to find that before so thank you.Unfortunately it has the wrong times for my nearest box so am not able to rely on it.

https://www.royalmail.com/services-near-youYou can put it your postcode and find the postboxes around you and what time the last post shoild be from each one.

I noticed one the other day where the collection has changed from 9am to not before 9am so it looks as though people may have been missing the first post. I didn't read all of it though - it's a new very small print white notice stuck on the front of the postbox underneath the larger one. I understood that the times used to be rather flexible depending on how busy the boxes were anyway but there is definitely a reorganisation of times going on.
>>CL writes>> collection from my local Post Box has changed from 6pm to 9am.>>TH replies>> The same applies in Hanwell (I suspect nationally, too). I think main Post Office branches' postboxes have two (maybe three) collections daily, Monday to Friday.
