Puncture repair Ealing

Where is the best place to get a bicycle puncture repaired in Ealing and how much should I expect to pay?

I can recommend ealingbikemechanic.com - Alex Gold - 22 Craven Road near West Ealing station for jobs small and large. Very reasonable prices. I would expect him to charge £10 plus the price of the inner tube. If the tyre is in poor condition, that would be extra.Want to be able to do it yourself? Get in touch and I will show you for free.

You could try Steve Newton - mobile bike mechanic , based in Hanwell. I haven'used him myself , I always use Malcolm Woolsey of Woolseys myself but only for things such as headsets and bottom brackets. Steve is a member of the Newton family who used to own bike shops in Hanwell Acton and Shepherds Bush so I  would think he knows his stuff.

I think that would have been David Eales who started Bike Hub - and also ran Freecycle locally - so enthusiastic at getting everyone and their bikes on the go.  It was a big loss when sadly died several years ago.

I use Schwalbe road tyres. Give good grip and ride out the bumps quite well, but do seem to need pumping up more often than the Michelins I had before ( which lasted for decades)

You might want to consider Schwalbe puncture proof tyres. My son cycles regularly as was plagued with punctures. The scwalbe have a liner to prevent the tube being breached meaning that you can continue to ride to your destination. The disadvantages, apart from the price of around £25.00 each is that they do make the ride a little harder as the tyre is stiffer. Halfords can fit while you wait. The Place in Brentford is in the High Street but near The Old Fire Station. It used to be a Hounslow Housing office.Chap who runs it is very good and I think he has a similar operation somewhere in Greenford.One of those places one knows but can't remember its proper name or address.

Raymond, I can both patch a puncture and replace an inner tube but sometimes I feel life is too short particularly as my efforts don't always have a 100% success rate. Thanks for the tips nevertheless.

Very simple to do and costs' pennies if you are able to do it yourself and don't mind getting your hands dirty. And Nitrile gloves are a boon for avoiding that.Otherwise there is a Place in Brentford that is very reasonable and the Bike Hub which does them for free.A friend of mine was quite shocked recently when she was charged as much as a car tyre repair in Ealing. For a very easy to do front tyre.  Similarly a few places in Chiswick and Hammersmith are very pricey.Only thing is I can't remember where that is now located.I'm sure someone will know
