The ''vote for us campaign'' has started

I live in the Hanger Hill ward and have noticed how, at blooming last, we finally have most of the leaf strewn streets swept. The Muppets at Perceval House have even had Montpelier Park spruced up as well after it was ignored for many years. Message to ''Del Boy'' Mason, you fool no-one mate, my vote would go to anyone who I thought had a chance of shifting you wasters out of office.

We had long discussions on this and other Neighbournet websites on the money and giving it to charity as it felt like dirty money.  In fact we never got around to collecting ours.  When we could see plenty of Council buildings needing attention and knew there were other facilities in the borough that needed funding - it was distasteful.  Remind me how bad child poverty is now in this and how the use of the food banks has increased?The Tory party's austerity and cuts as they increased Central Govt micromanagement of local govt has caused more problems than it has solved.

I hope then that you donated your 'disgusting' rebate to charity. Well remembered though, it was the the last time that Ealing had  a balanced budget and returned the surplus to residents. How do you know that any of the leaves have not been swept up by residents?  The email address for requesting the bags has been posted on this website for those who are happy to do this.  Or residents haven't particularly requested that any of the roads where windswept leaves have collected together haven't been dealt with ahead of others?I still remember with disgust the money or rebate or whatever that the last Conservative Council offered to each resident towards the end of their term in power.

Welcome to Cloud Cuckoo Land mate! Whereas the pillocks that form the local Labour group will not be removed at the May elections (thanks to Gordon Brown's actions in the last Labour government, remember that) they may well be feeling the antagonism they created with the LTN fiasco and their lack of empathy with the residents. Given how badly the PM is doing, I would be targeting Tory areas if I was them so as to have a clean sweep (pun intended) locally.

The other wards I mention that had leaves cleared were the only ones I was familiar with. I'd be very surprised if the whole borough wasn't done as part of the same schedule.The accusation that the Council is targeting marginal wards for special treatment is quite a serious one but also one that would be very simple to prove. A Freedom of Information request would get you the leaf cleaning schedule and if it was been done in a way to create party political advantage that would possibly be a criminal offence. I struggle to understand the logic of anyone who genuinely believes this is occurring but wouldn't take the relatively simple steps necessary to prove it is. Personally I can't begin to understand why a party with such a huge majority which is likely to increase it if the polls are to be believed would go to such lengths just to win a few marginal seats.As for spending in advance of election - you will see more of this because that is what councils traditional do before the end of their financial year to ensure budgets are spent. The use of available funding has probably been delayed due to Covid so there is likely a lot of money to be used up.

Not unless Covid was with us in 2018 Mark. The typical approach from the wasters at Perceval House is to finally catch up with a ''deep clean'' and remove the previous autumn's leaves. It happened to my road in September when they came round before any of the eight trees in the road had started shedding leaves. This autumn's ones now line the kerbs and block the drains. Similarly Montpelier Park has had its first ''make over'' for as long as I can remember. This is pure electioneering

".....big clearances in South Acton and Southfield wards too."Interesting.No surprises about South Acton, their three Labour Ward Councillors have immensely impressed locals - they disappeared and have been AWOL (allegedly 😆) ever since being elected, this includes "Fick Mik".  And with Southfields being LIBDEM, well, I didn't know they had so much clout.  🤣

Leaves can't really be collected until they fall off trees and, while they did take their time in collecting them this year, it wasn't just in Hanger Hill ward that they dealt with the accumulation. There have been big clearances in South Acton and Southfield wards too.Is it not more likely that Covid issues with staffing and the financial constraints that all councils currently operate under has made the regularity of leaf sweeping less than it should be?

in my view the Tories are a Communist party,my local councillor the geriatric Anthony Young ignores issues and has last time i looked totally out of date contact details , local councillors are only in it to harvest handouts and because of the supposed prestige, UK party politics has failed and decent people never put themselves forward leaving tweedledum and tweedledee to hoover up the block votes

Absolutely correct, the Local Council "Opposition" parties seem to have given up.The LIBDEMS pop up from time to time, but the CONS are fast asleep. I just don't understand the CONs, they had control three terms back under the admirable Jason Stacey, but they appear to just not care at Local Council level anymore.Meanwhile, the good residents of LBE suffer on under Local Council Labour and are desperate for a regime change........

Does anyone see or hear anything from any credible opposition?Turning up on a doorstep a few weeks before an election won't win a vote.Apart from fringe activist parties, there is no serious and prominent active opposition.It's not just appalling what we end up with, it's the lack of clear and decisive choice too.
