Shameless MPs Sink Back into Sleaze

Not my words but the headline in today's Daily Mail. Owen Paterson is clearly guilty of breaches of parliamentary rules far worse that the expenses claims that many MPs were found to be making some years ago. He was basically spending his time in parliament as a paid representative of two companies rather than working on behalf of his constituents which he was also being paid to do. The supine nature of a large proportion of Conservative MPs who have followed the party line on this gives little hope for a continuation of government in the public interest. It is blatantly obvious that Boris Johnson is forcing them to do this to avoid the Parliamentary Standards Committee being able to produce its report on exactly who paid for the renovations on his flat. The implicit understanding is by doing this their snouts can get ever more deeply in the trough.

We generally vote blindly for a party and even fall for the spin that candidates put out.But too often do not pay attention to the backgrounds and ethics of candidates.Be it local council level, GLA/ Mayoral, Parliamentary etc.And did anyone actually know who their MEP was or who the local GLA member is?

I loathe Khan & also didn’t (& would never) vote for him.I did vote Johnson.They are all dodgy sods - choosing words carefully.Some I find slightly less worse than the others!

Nothing new is it and hardly a surprise.The sad thing is that it course right through politics and its affiliates.The example set by the MPs and the Commons comes right down to even small councils.We see it with the GLA, TfL and our local councils here and it is now so brazen there are whole generations that do not even realise that morally corrupt is even wrong.We seem to have sold out on our principles and adopted or embraced the worst the rest of the world has to offer and packaged it to look above board.We get what we vote for, so we are all complicit.
