£12.50 for an English breakfast in Ealing. Clearly Gordon Ramsey has seen em coming a mile off. I shall be sticking to the excellent value Sir Michael Balcon Weathersoons for breakfast given a definite case of sticker shock. Just officially opened this week admit much media fanfare Rubber Face Gordon Ransey has created a food machine in the heart of Ealing, the Bread Street Cafe, in the shopping centre that is lined with an amazing acreage of white victorian public convenience ceramic tile making one wonder whether the target market is the weekend late night clubbing crowd where the requirement is to be able to hose the inside down after a heavy nights useage rather than to service the needs of the central Ealing English breakfast community. Certainly you would need a few beers at the local late night drinking joint to handle the sticker shock of a this English breakfast. Not for me methinks. The establishment was strangely without customers both before the official media freebie and remains so after the official media freebie.

Was he posting as a conservative? NoWas he posting as a private individual?YesYou can try to score cheap points as much as you like but the FACT is that the only time that the books have balanced in Ealing in the last 15 years is when the conservatives were in control.

Should the Conservatives be endorsing bad value by large organisations like the Ramsey chain affecting Ealing voters. Why are they not endorsing and advertising for small local cafes. What councillors do at home they are likely to do in office, so why is he not telling us what genuine small local businesses are doing and instead endorsing Ramseys rubber breakfasts. If he is going to fork out thirty quid on a cold breakfast what is he going to do with the councils money if the Conservative get in next time.

How someone spends their own money is no one's concern but their own. Save that some may choose to make cheap political capital. However, how public money is spent and wasted locally should be of concern to all.Personally, none of my hard earned is going over the Bread Street counter if you want to waste your money why should a councillor, irrespective of party protect you from your own stupidity?
The Conservatives in Ealing seem to be changing their approach in Ealing, why.The platform to date is fiscal prudence, economy, value and spending saved money in areas where it is needed in council. Why is David Millican Conservative councillor endorsing the Ramsey Rip Off with the thirty quid breakfast.See David Millicans Twitter account.https://twitter.com/David_Millican/status/1430448238461702147Where does this dovetail with safe guarding electors from being taken advantage of and overcharged.David Millican@David_MillicanGordon Ramsay visits Ealing to open new café and fans cannot contain excitement
It is discretionary but added automatically.I have to laugh at £5.17 for a glass of orange juice or, if you are eating later a can of Diet Coke!!!
15%?? Is that discretionary ie you don't pay it?

Wetherspoons, you know you want to! 😄

Don't forget to add £3.50 for a cuppa and a 15% service charge.

I had the worst breakfast on sunday at Mugi in Ealing Common.would gladly pay 12.50 for a proper one.

I'd have thought it's perfectly reasonable to comment on an eatery based on its prices, without visiting. For certain establishments, the associated "ambiance" must be through the roof, and/or it's Organic Free Range Everything. 😂

Happy to pay a tenner for breakfast but not almost three times that amount. The one Google review I read claimed the only thing hot about the BSK cooked breakfast was the coffee. I will try to find the link
I'm going to give this place a go - even more so after the bashing it's taken here from people who've not visited.Prices for EVERYTHING are sky high... I'm shocked places now asking £12 for a glass of house white. That's how it is and I don't intend to stay indoors for the rest of my life.Picking up on the black pudding statements -- best breakfast in Ealing at the moment is COTES. If you go then ask for a portion of their black pud which is made with apples. It's the best I have ever tasted.However.... if you're expecting to pay £3.99 for the breakie then best stick to Wetherspoons for the nuclear option.

Ramsay's market is reasonably identifiable and they'll probably support this place, they also usually will only wear Designer Labels. 😁
True, there will always be enough gullible people although that didn't work for some other high profile chains which went under well before the pandemic.
Well if you have enough cash or are starry eyed than you may as well go there.Ramsey and co know there are enough out there with more money than sense to make a few quid out of them. But at least you have a choice. Unlike most residents who get fleeced by local authorities and utility companies.

So, add some slices of black pudding , a cuppa and a fresh orange juice to your already overpriced breakfast and, with service, your bill will be......drum roll.....£27.60That, I am sorry, is taking the piss.
I've noticed that too - you don't often see a proper slice of that tasty Northern delicacy on cooked breakfasts in cafes these days, certainly around Ealing. Bring it back, I say. BLACK PUDDINGS MATTER!

Doesn't sound that expensive whereas £5 for a loaf of bread@ Gail's does!
Simon Wycombe ● 1476d
Doesn't even include black pudding or a fried slice!

I checked out the menu online and the prices seemed very high for what is essentially a chain restaurant. The Gordon Ramsay brand was very badly damaged by the 'Coq au Van' story in the Sun which found out he was delivering food from a central kitchen to be microwaved in one of his upmarket restaurants. I doubt he is doing this again but other corners may be being cut. I'll reserve final judgment when I've saved up enough to pay it a visit.
