Probably the last hope that the 26-storey won't be built in the centre of Ealing has gone as the Secretary of State Robert Jenrick has declined to intervene. If he had there would have been a public enquiry which might have cast more light on exactly how this was allowed to happen. As Jenrick's track record shows he is relentlessly pro-developer this probably was not a huge surprise.

Meanwhile in Hammersmith & Fulham, Jenrick *did* call in a proposal to replace an 18 storey building with a 20 storey one. 80% of the flats would have been social rent with the remaining being intermediate rent. The development had been approved by H&F but the Conservative MP, Greg Hands, objected to it, saying 'We need more homes - but not more tower blocks - in Fulham'
