There has, at Thursday lunchtime, been no post in the area near the old White Hart pub since Saturday (and that was a late delivery combining the previous couple of days). I understood the problems when the pandemic was at its peak but not now. What is going on, Royal Mail?

I'm sorry but I don't buy that. Talking to the one postman who delivered our mail this week (and left it to the residents to re-deliver to the correct places), it is chaotic with what seems to be poor management of a tricky situations. You may not have noticed, Phillipa, that the pandemic figures have drastically improved and the service we are receiving from Northolt Sorting Office is worse than at any stage in the last year. There is, of course, no easy way to complain to Royal Mail or, heaven forfend, any way to talk to anybody.

and parcels!I sometimes wonder if the instructions aren't to close them down. The Govt's lack of belief and support for the Postmasters and Mistresses caught up in the scandal over a faulty computer program was/is unbelievable and makes one wonder. We certainly post very little office mail now - it all goes by email. Years ago technical drawings started to be uploaded onto the web and a code sent to each recipient so that they could download the relevant drawings. Many of those used to go by courier to go by plane in large rolls or huge packets. Or put onto CDs.Now we send handwritten letters to the youngsters so that they get their own post and cards to those who can't/won't/don't use the internet or who'll forget unless they can read something again and again.Selling off Post Office Buildings so that more people end up working in the smaller spaces doesn't sound great during a pandemic.

Royal Mail is a farce. The groundworkers - actual posties are fantastic.Having chatted with them it’s the managers (as in a lot of fields, NHS for example)There is a supposed first & second class post.We used to get a delivery sail at 8am & the second about 11.Now 1 delivery per day at a random time, all post lumped together.Quite often no post at all & I know parcels have been shipped.Several items have been lost, I was lucky because I argued to get some stamps as compensation. No consolation to the recipient of a signed cd.Only yesterday a signed for parcel said attempted delivery, aborted as no one in. Blatant lie we were in,Try & write or message to complain is awkward. Covid hasn’t helped but management ideas that people don’t post letters anymore, fell flat when at xmas they were inundated with letters or cards

I don't know what the problem is but I would remind you that we are still in a pandemic and it just takes one person to catch it then others working with them are most probably unable to work either.Sadly it is too easy (and too good) to think that just because we are promised some lifting of restrictions that it is an all clear. It isn't :(
