There’s money available for pet projects. £2million of taxpayer cash spent on the town hall hotel project so far, a project that may not even happen. If that’s the case then the developers get £350,000 as an indemnity payment, again from our coffers. Our councillors haven’t reduced their allowances. Cabinet alone costs us £250,000 a year, yet they refuse to engage with residents who fund them. If they were judged solely on performance you’d say they have failed. But Bell is cunning. His line throughout has been to blame everyone else, covering up his shortcomings by deflection. The current LTN fiasco is another of his pet projects, yet he shifts the blame to Central government yet again.Laughably he eats it’s to combat pollution and health problems like obesity, yet the area in the borough where those problems are worst has no LTNs installed or planned. The roads ‘aren’t suitable’ he claims! More to do with keeping Virendra happy I’d wager.
