Bowls Clubs have smallish memberships, often determined by the amount of playing space. It's seen as a senior citizens game, absolutely nothing wrong with that but actually its one of the few sports that can be played from a young age to old age. According to a letter I saw recently, The Bowls club has been self sufficient for almost 25 years with members doing everything from tending the plant borders, keeping the greens pristine and maintaining the clubhouse inside and out. Saved the both Councils ££££££s over that time. Especially as everything Councils and CICs do costs ten times more than it costs anyone else.Problem seems to be the way the CIC operate. Interested more in making money to cover excessive costs of their own creation. And seemingly answerable to no-oneFundamentally this is a public amenity, there for all - Old, In Between and Young - and a proper sport. I don't think Crazy Golf at £10 a round is really appropriate as a replacement. The Bowls club ought to remain and be encouraged to flourish again rather than bullied into submission by external pressure.
