I wonder if Ealings will survive.They are shutting “as more people choose to bank online”CHOOSE???? What a load of cobblers.Banks helped ruin society.Back to basics (when you could freely walk in branches), only ever half the windows open with cashiers.Fat cats & obscene bonuses.ATM machines disappearing Pushing all of us to do it onlineCashless societyUsing Covid as an excuse to not handle money.The queues every day outside branches. Yet opening less hours & behind a solid screen, most protected workers anywhere

If theres one thing really apparent, it's the need for local banks. The queues and utter uselessness of major high street banks locally is truly appalling.Endless adverts of how they are helping businesses by the likes of Barclays is in fact 1.5 hour waits on the phone, Hopeless email contact, higher charges on sole trader businesses at a time where income is slashed, no means of talking to anyone who knows anything other than a prepared series of statements.It shows how online and apps actually fail and it's only the tech savvy and young who have never known the value and ease that personal service when a manager or staff actually know their customers and their businesses.Big loss and far more reaching now than I ever thought myself.

Credit unions appeal to me in theory. Not sure what's happening locally, called one a few years ago and it had restricted access, or they couldn't understand why I wasn't after a loan, or something odd anyway
