Although the LTN schemes MAY see a decrease in traffic they will, it has been calculated, result in a 28-52% (depends on the road) INCREASE in traffic and, as a consequence, pollution in the 'diversion routes'.
The petition to ask the council to reconsider these proposals now has over 3600 signatures.

That did strike me too although the protests would argue no doubt that it is not as great as the irony of a Low Traffic Neighbourhood Scheme resulting in increased traffic in their neighbourhood.
