If you use the Co-op in South Ealing Road ...

This is closing on Saturday for a refit which is going to take a month, which probably means two.I found the place a godsend during the days of queueing to get into shops as it was always quiet. Even now, it's handy for quick needs.

We live in ludicrous PC times now, shoplifting is an almost totally  risk free crime, there are very, very rarely any repurcussions if caught.Back in the day you got a conviction for it, and rightly so.  Funnily enough, there wasn't near as much shoplifting then. Just one more dollop of grease on the slippery PC slope where the Perpetrators have more rights than the victims.

Quart into pint pot.Space is limited. Aisles are narrow, but that can only be changed by making them wider by having one fewer. That would mean a huge, and to me unacceptable, reduction in shelf space and stuff stocked.I don't have a problem with the shop as-is.Upsetting that all the local thieves target it because Sainsbury's have a security guard and the Coop doesn't.

It's true that the South Ealing branch is quite scruffy but it was very useful in the early days on Lockdown when there were long queues elsewhere but I could pop in there for the basics and parking was very easy. So I'm disappointed to lose it, even for a few weeks.

I hope your optimism for a two month turnaround rings true. The Pitshanger branch took forever and a day......initially signposted for a November reopen which then moved on to after Christmas.  If you are ever in the area it is usually quiet so you could pop in....the smaller one with postoffice seems to be fairly busy because of the postoffice but fluctuates in length of queues depending on such vagaries as the weather and time of day! Try early in the morning on overcast days and you can walk straight in.  Not a scientific study but more often true than not.  It's about time the South Ealing store reorganised their space ...can be quite congested and no social distancing.  Happy days!
