Death in service benefits for transport workers killed by Covid-19 is exactly the sort of practical and just measure that Steve Pound would have taken up. Can't be a coincidence.

The bigger iniquity is probably rates of sick pay for bus drivers. If a tube driver decided it was too much of a risk to go to work they could do so without a financial penalty. A bus driver's income would have fallen substantially therefore many of them with conditions that put them at risk continued to turn up for shifts. The risk was minimal for tube drivers in a separate compartment but not for bus drivers with their regular contact with members of the public.

as for masks our government were rubbishing the effectiveness early on and i feel we may pay a price for that. just holding my fingers crossed over the next few weeks. But James does appear to be getting stuck in which is good news.

Can't argue with that it should go without asking.  Bus drivers have had a bad deal under TfL and the tendering system. Some operators are better than others but compared to their Underground Counterparts have really poor conditions.But like quite a lot of front line workers, those who refused to wear issued masks and gloves and threw them away -( I know a few) who get rather bolshy about being told what to do, do need to be taken aside by their managers and reminded about the danger they are placing themselves in and to their families.If the safety stuff is there use it. Don't scorn it.
