Strictly speaking it's their independent expenses people who've said they can claim 'extra expenses' for setting up to work from home, though I'd have thought they could just take their office laptop home. Most large organisations with thousands of employees, would provide the necessary kit if any of their employees had to work at home. They wouldn't have to buy it themselves or pay their own office staff, but typically, MPs have to be different. 'We're not employed by anyone, we're part of a centuries old tradition' etc., so most of their working and living and remuneration arrangements are totally archaic, and I suspect a lot of them like it that way, but it just leads to understandable suspicion among the public
