Susan, I do not think that you are at all shallow, I just have a different view to yours. We are being charged much more, three times more to eat in the restaurant as the Gunnersbury Estate tries to generate more revenues. There was a plan to charge for car parking there early this year with a consultation held that closed in November last year, for which I can find no outcome. The historical bowls club has hypocritically been given its marching orders despite initial assurances and the remaining bowling green is to be bulldozed for something that will make the Gunnersbury Estate much more money. The artists studios and community arts courses are no more, rents unaffordable or facilities unavailable, and of course the sports hub is another expensive facility provided by a private company franchise where even the toilets and the like are not available to Gunnersbury Park joggers and open exercise users. Ahhh, wonderful PROGRESS! You won't find any of this in the posh history books that the Gunnersbury Estate has been producingAs an aside, Gunnersbury Park has not been there for 1,000 years, 'GUNNERSBURY Park, built on the site of an estate owned by the Bishops of London, was created in the 18th century and developed in the 19th century as the grounds of one and later two mansions. The Large Mansion and The Small Mansion were in separate ownership until the Rothschild family reunited the site in 1889.9 Mar 2002'
