Garden waste collection service 2019/20

We received today an email reminder for Garden Waste Collection.  We pay by Direct Debit and happy to continue to do so, however, we were unable to find anywhere on the email or the attachments a mention of what the amount would be, or when the monies would be taken. There was no form of "invoice"  or anything showing that the monies would be taken.  Are we missing something.

It’s only a priority if it rolls round and the Council don’t collect it.On reflection I’ve decided £79 is too steep for what’s become less than 26 collections a year so it’s not for me any more. I’ll load up my car and drive to the tip instead. Nice one Ealing Council, priced yourself out of the market and encouraged more road traffic in the process!

I emailed more than a week ago to get copy of invoice however no reply. Couple of thoughts...1. If system failure surely easier for them to resend invoices to everyone?2. Why not one system/portal  for all council payments ..rates, parking, garden waste?3. Given virus is this a priority?>Take care

Like the Parking/CPZ fiasco, surely the Council should be pro-active in sorting this out.  It was their mistake.

This is the email that I received, following the initial 'wrong' one.  I submitted the information required and an email response, with invoice attached, followed within a couple of days."Dear Subscriber,Garden waste collection 2020/21 It has been brought to our attention that the recent email notification to a number of our subscribers referred incorrectly to the year 2019/20 and did not have the garden waste invoice for 2020/21 attached. If you didn’t receive your invoice and would like a copy, please email corporatecollectionservices@ealing.gov.uk, confirming your address and we will be happy to oblige. Yours faithfully,Ealing Council Recycling Team"

I still haven’t had an invoice for this. Anyone else still waiting? I wonder if it’s down to coronavirus isolating.

I had a subsequent e-mail saying it was a mistake which had affected "some people" (which probably means everyone!) and to e-mail them if I wanted a replacement with the invoice attached. The original message also had the years wrong, it said 2019-2020 instead of 2020-2021. I replied "yes please" and received a replacement e-mail with the invoice which to my great surprise arrived on Sunday!The original e-mail also mentioned sending me a bin, so it looks as if it was treating me as a new subscriber, which I'm not!

Ditto.I don’t see how they can expect a payment without raising an invoice first. What happens if the deadline rolls around and it’s not been sent?Useless, utterly useless. And this isn’t down to cuts, it’s down to incompetence.

I always make a calendar note of permit renewals and the like, mainly to budget properly. I don’t rely on the super brains in Perceval house to automatically remind me. Then I pay by card once the invoice arrives.They have a duty to tell you how much the service will cost, in much the same way they have an obligation to tell you how much council tax  or car parking permits will be.

It was not by choice, how else could we pay for his annual service? Rely on Ealing Council to remind us? and many people pay their council tax by DD.

We have the same problem. Last year we had an invoice in the post nearer the end of the month so we assume something similar will happen this year. It is possible to pay online but you need a customer reference number/invoice number before doing so. There seems to be a glitch with the online system at present because it sometimes shows "under maintenance" and at other times appears to be working normally. Same here.I imagine it’s the same computer system that runs parking permit renewals, Council tax accounts and all the rest. The mice who run on the wheels to power it must have got too tired for the actual invoice to be sent.Having received my copy of Around Ealing today I note the cost is £79 for the year, which I think is a slight increase on last year (not that they would tell us). They also don’t collect 26 times a year, as they claimed in previous years. I had no collection for about six weeks over Christmas/New Year.I suggest waiting to see what turns up in the post.
