1 day work experience

One of my 6th student is looking for a 1 day work experience next Wednesday 11/12/2019. he is looking to work in the IT section. He is willing to travel from home counties in to Central London if needed. Any offers please?

Hi Robert, Thank you for kid and useful advice. I was working in industry myself before becoming a teacher after Y2K). The student would like to be a Software Engineer. For my student he just need to observe what real working environment is like and possible learning and skills he needs for his future. Its only a one day work experience and agreed that there are many companies who could be open to this. However, after trying for the last few weeks, none were able to due to various reasons. This includes Health & Safety, Insurance (school has already got insurance over for this), security etc...Any companies in Ealing are willing to offer my student a place please let me know?

Jim,There are many companies that would be willing to offer experience to your student, It would be much better if you gave a more specific set of goals and her / his interests in computing. For instance, Do They like hardware or software ( this is important, I started in an industry, when i discovered the ability to control physical objects through software blew my mind.. For me it was very big toys... aircraft :-) ) many of my peers are purely analytical and love number crunching. Hands on or developing ? There are so many more angles and I understand a young mind is still searching...  What does your student do for hobbies. Its all relevant and will help make the one day so much more valuable for them and the company that will offer their time.Best of luck Robert Hoonjan

Thanks for the reply and question. He is looking to get a snapshot of what real life work environment is like, especially in the IT sector. He would like to be a Software Engineer. But anything that relates to IT would be fine, so that he will know what courses/qualifications and skills he needs.
