Avoid Chicken and Ćevapi – 190 South Ealing Road, W5 4RJ

I don't know if its me or if South Ealing and Little Ealing have turned into some sort of hell hole, however, I find that I must make another post today about another establishment that should be best avoided. To put it politely the Chicken and Ćevapi – 190 South Ealing Road, W5 4RJ (where the Mumbai2Go Takeaway used to be) should be avoided as some not very nice (or law abiding) people are running it. Based on personal experience this place is best given a wide berth.

Simon, that is a very good question, in the past chicken shops on the South Ealing Road have lost their licences for periods of time as they were turning a blind eye to illict and criminal activities on the part of their customers, though this control has tended to come from the local authorities rather than from the management, franchise owner, or even the overall franchising company. In Forum posts a little while ago I chuckled when I say what one of the Forumite families called the South Ealing Road in a post on the Forum, they call it Ealing's "Greasy Mile", or "The Greasy Mile". Personally, I have prefered the term "Street of a thousand gas leaks", though that is now being rectified as part of the massive gas main replacement program which is ongoing (and for which I am grateful)

Yes, but NONE of the current under-performing cohort have been picked up as candidates, despite three of them making the Labour 'short list' (if only to make up the numbers) in Ealing North.Sharma has yet to survive a no-confidence vote in Ealing Southall and 'Dr.' Huq will get the nod in Acton.

Nigel, with practically  all new MP candidates across Ealing across all parties it looks to be an interesting election. With change comes opportunity and if you were not part of the coterie of the old MPs here's your chance as a councillor to shine in the light of potential opportunity. In change there is opportunity

Well it didn't work for Julian 'Dear Leader' Bell or Bassam 'photo opportunity' Mahfouz did it?Neither has been selected as a candidate for the forthcoming election.The last Ealing councillor who went on to 'greater things' politically was Steve Pound who was something very special and who has been an outstanding constituency MP.I would mention Sharma (who was an Ealing councillor) but as he was already elected as an MP whil continuing as a councillor I won't waste my breath. That said unlike Sadiq "son of a bus driver, did I mention that?" Khan at least Sharma worked on the buses (as a conductor on the 207 route ).

Nigel, I disagree with you on this. Many local councillors are career politicians and like in any profession want to progress. This General Election is the stall on which they will be setting out their wares for the political party of which they are members, publicising their parties successes and their own successes to ensure re-selection for the local councillor posts as well as showing their loyalty to their party and causes to gain exposure for themselves and their parties. Action by local councillors in the local area in the General Election will reflect in their standing in their party meritocracy and in their future prospect.I guess I am going to spend a lot of time having a different opinion to yours, perhaps somewhere in the middle lies truth

The upcoming General Election will not affect the councillors in Ealing one jot. They have until 2022 to keep up their outstanding track record of non-delivery to local residents.

Tony, I rather fancy some granite cliffs in Scotland, or the coast of Wales, perhaps Camber Sands. I had though about Lerwick in Scotland, however, that turns out to have the NATO forward monitoring station there with all that implies so it wouldn't be that different from being close to the Norwood bunker complex as we are here, Hmmm, wishes aside I have NOT given up on Ealing, it is better than many other Boroughs and unlike many other councils it is not bankrupt and does still provide the basics. My approach now is to report EVERY infraction of the local crook businesses via the Council's Report-It System and to post information up on this Forum (which is much more widely read than people think) and to report every bad experience, undercooked meal and rude member of bar staff. The answer is not to "talk up" what does not exist as the Ealing BID (Business Improvement District) a.k.a. Make-it-Ealing tries to do, it is to bring to the light that which is hidden, the bad businesses and the nasty staff, and what needs to be addressed. As we move into this Election I want to see local Councillors proudly posing beside crook businesses that they have closed down, instead of selfies clutching pints in some dive bar. We CAN make Ealing GREAT again

Well, the matter of hostelries aside, for sure Ealing is now a grossly overpopulated, crime-ridden cesspool.  But that profile is not unique to Ealing.  Sensible folk will look to leave the south east altogether.
