Lewis Cox shafted for Ealing North?

I was under the impression that Lewis Cox was going to take over, as such, from Stephen Pound? I disagree with Lewis on quite a few things but, I think we agree on a lot more than we disagree on. I've just seen that these are, allegedly, those going for the Ealing North position. Lad hasn't ran in an election proper since the 80s. Plus the media would have a FIELD DAY re cult leadership, cocaine and hooker holibobs, lies, flogging Ealing off to mates, his maid being an anti-semite yadda yadda.Also thought Bassam Mahfouz may get a shout this time around?

If James Murray has been selected then poor old 'four jobs, three houses' wil have to work a bit longer. Shame, as he couldn't be 'Dear Leader' (we could have been free of him) and an MP although doubtles he'd try to justify it!

It is being reported elsewhere that James Murray has been selected. He seems to have a reputation for wanted to get as much housing built as possible as long as it has a high 'affordable' component. Don't think residents concerned about tall buildings sprouting up in their area will be able to look to him for support.

I don’t know why everyone is so worked up about this. Politicians at all levels these days are almost exclusively motivated by self interest. What the public wants or needs is secondary to what suits the politician and his friends/donors/shady acquaintances.The entire electoral system needs overhauling, and I’d do away with constituency MPs. Very few of them do much for the areas they represent, particularly the higher up the ladder they go. We’ve now got the situation where pro-Remain MPs like Stephen Kinnock are worrying about losing their seats because their personal views ‘clash’ with the majority of their voters.

Anyone who is a friend of Khan's I doubt has much chance. How Ealing has gone from 3 safe seats to infighting over North (who I believe voted pro Brexit?), to Southall being a poo show to Rupa issuing statements as she may lose her seat is insane. Then we may get no deal if the Labour MPs refuse the EUs deal they have offered us....heck..that happens and they're all unelectable.

The exclusion of Bassam Mahfouz seems to be pretty much confirmed in Ealing North as the Labour Party's NEC have drawn up the short list. There are more details in this article. James Murray looks set to be picked. He from Islington and is described as left wing by some media. However, that last bit seems to be based on his hard core approach to the level of affordable housing in developments. As he was appointed by Sadiq Khan to his current role he probably isn't a hard core Corbynite.

As I said, I have always voted Conservative but had Steve been the Labour candidate for Ealing Southall he would have got my vote.The people of Ealing North have been well served by Steve and his predecessor Harry Greenway, another good constituency MP.Whereas the people of Ealing Southall, particularly those east of the Iron Bridge, have been poorly represented by, in succession, Bidwell, Khabra and Sharma.

Pound was my MP for 2 elections. Visited him thrice and he sorted my issue out. Only other MP to do that for me was John McDonnell when I went with my Nan way back in the day. Had no time for Pound's anti same sex marriage but a damned good employee. No other local MP actually holds surgeries. Sharma is probably filling out a survey or off on a jolly and Rupa holds one (every now and then) in a very intimidating place. Maybe in-between racking up to an envelope opening or calling the Union Flag being flown when the Queen delivers her speech - xenophobic.  Re Southall. I think only a Sikh can bring it together. That could be a Tory Sikh though. Guess we'll see.We need more employees like Pound.

None will be a patch on Steve Pound.A bloody good MP and a sound chap and I write this as a liflong Conservative voter.It will be interesting the see what happens though in Ealing Southall where the NEC have ridden roughshod over the local party.I wonder which 'magic grandad supporting/Momentum loving' apparatchik will be parachuted in.
