Kenmure Mansions, Pitshanger Lane proposed development

Hello All,Just to let you know that the owners of the main block of shops and flats on the south side of Pitshanger Lane are proposing a major redevelopment scheme, which could affect those shops. It adds two extra floors to the three story building, with 44 additional flats.The information is on the Ealing Council website, together with 31 documents.Needless to say, all the traders and residents are extremely worried about the short term (2 years?) of building work, and the long term damage to the traders businesses and the residents' living conditions.Please do give your thoughts to the council, as this could be a major change to the centre of Pitshanger Lane.The details are here :- https://pam.ealing.gov.uk/online-applications/ and search for 193235FULThere are also petitions in many of the affected shops, but it is the council that really need to know your views.There are already many objections, but the more the merrier.

Good news up to a point. But will the developers come back with modified plans. I understand the Co -op is playing safe by having its roof reinforced in case of this which is why the re opening date has been put back, again, now to 17th January 2020.

I see that the developers have had some preliminary conversations with Ealing Council, who are not totally against the plan in principle, but they did suggest some significant modifications.  They also appear to want 50% of the flats to be affordable, which the developers might find difficult. I assume they've done surveys on this old and until recently not particularly well maintained building to be sure it can take the load of two further floors and that the drains and other services can take the extra strain.  Looking at the plans, they seem to be removing the mansard roof slope from the existing second floor and straightening the front wall, and then rebuilding the mansard one floor up.  This suggests they'll need to make structural changes to the existing second floor flats, which could be a basis, among others, for the existing leaseholders to object to the project. I gather they have a Residents Association, so they must be looking into all this. On the other hand, rooftop developments like this can often mean major 'free' improvements to the existing building and its communal areas which the existing leaseholders might actually welcome.

Yes, all but 3 objecting to it.One of the 3 who supports it pressed the wrong button and is against it, one lives in Maidenhead and it is difficult to see why the have made any comment on the plans, and the other is from someone local who does think that affordable housing is required in Ealing.This is optimistic looking at what little is proposed.562 Objecting at the time of writing.

If anyone has any evidence whatsoever, however flimsy that there's corruption/bribery taking place within the planning or other council departments, can I please ask why this has not been reported to the police, who will definitely investigate such allegations. Just asking.

Commented, although I don't live in the direct community I do visit the area and can see this is yet another example of a developer making a profit at the cost of the local residents.
