Risk of 47 flights an hour coming in over Ealing

There has been a lot of discussion about the potential local damage from building a third runway at Heathrow but little about the horrendous impact of the associated plans to increase and change the direction of flights.  Instead of most flights approaching the airport from the East as they do now, Heathrow  plans to land up to 47 flights an hour from East of the airport.  This means thousands more planes passing over Ealing .  They will also start much earlier in the morning (because arrivals start earlier) and  they will be flying at a far lower level than we suffer now (because take offs are steeper than landings).  Why is Ealing Council not doing everything they can to stop this? Are they putting the concerns of those who will benefit from Heathrow expansion over the residents who will be unable to sleep or enjoy being outside in their own neighbourhood?

That is a target NOT a guarantee.As is the case now, if a flight needs to land or depart early 'for operational reasons' this will still be permitted.So, don't bank of flights stopping at 11:00pm any time soon.

Haha!  I wish I could explain properly how ghastly the future could be for Ealing if Heathrow flights start landing over us all day and most of the night

There is good news Caroline. Flights will stop for 6 1/2 hours per night.

I have read that Richmond will have 97 flights per hour landing. There will be a car park for 22000 cars on the South side of Heathrow. T5 will be expaned and ANOTHER NEW TERMINAL will be built. The M25 will be put in a tunnel. This is part of Heathrows Master plan. You should read it. What an EYEOPENER.

The Southall Posse (who actually run Ealing) and their constituents benefit from Heathrow, so whilst LBE is supposedly "Against" Heathrow Expansion (notice how long it took them), draw your own conclusions about how robustly LBE will actually "fight".Yes, Ealing/Acton will suffer horrendous aircraft noise, it will be absolutely intolerable. The majority of inhabitants of the Borough however spend most of their days with their cranium firmly buried up their rear orifice so will undoubtedly complain bitterly. When they finally notice, after it's all done & dusted and happening of course.
